Machine Operator / Filler Operator

Reports To: Production Manager / Line Supervisor
Location: Chesapeake, VA
Position Summary:
The Machine Operator / Filler Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient setup, operation, and maintenance of beverage filling and packaging equipment. This role ensures production runs meet company standards for safety, quality, and efficiency while minimizing downtime and waste.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate and monitor filling, seaming, and packaging machinery in accordance with production schedules.
Perform equipment startups, changeovers, and shutdowns following standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Conduct quality checks on cans, fill levels, seams, and packaging integrity throughout the shift.
Record and maintain accurate production and quality data on batch sheets and logs.
Identify and troubleshoot equipment issues to minimize downtime; communicate issues promptly to maintenance and supervisors.
Follow all safety and sanitation procedures, including proper use of PPE and lockout/tagout protocols.
Assist with line cleaning, sanitation, and routine maintenance tasks.
Work collaboratively with batching, quality control, and warehouse teams to maintain production flow.
Ensure product meets customer and regulatory specifications (FDA, SQF, etc.).
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and process optimization efforts.
Qualifications & Skills:
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training preferred.
0–3 years of experience in a manufacturing or beverage production environment.
Familiarity with beverage filling systems (KHS, CFT, Wild Goose, or similar) is a plus.
Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
Willingness to work flexible shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Work Environment:
Fast-paced production floor with varying temperatures and noise levels.
Must adhere to GMP, SQF, and company safety standards at all times.
