The Resident Director is responsible for residential life functions within an assigned living and
learning environment, housing up to 600 students. This position supervises a live-in graduate assistant and resident
assistants, and works collaboratively to provide a safe, clean, well-maintained, and inclusive community that encourages
students to develop to their full potential. The Resident Director fosters a residential community of learners, which
promotes student engagement, academic success, and personal development through implementation of the
residential curriculum. This is a 12-month, live-in position requiring day, evening, and weekend responsibilities.
Participates in the 24-hour professional on-call rotation schedule for student emergencies during evenings, weekends,
and holidays, and provides follow-up appropriately with any necessary interventions.
Knowledge of residence life operational
policies and procedures; attentiveness to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills, exceptional
interpersonal/human relations skills, excellent organizational/planning skills. Must be able to prioritize workloads and
handle multiple tasks simultaneously, must be able to work a flexible schedule; must have excellent personal computer
skills. Must be able to function well under intense pressure. Must be able to work as essential personnel and fulfill
essential personnel duties as assigned.
19. Education, Experience, Licensure, or Certification required for entry into position: A Bachelor’s degree is required. A
Master’s degree in College Student Personnel Administration, Counseling, Higher Education Administration, or a related
field is strongly preferred.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Must have at least one year of experience working in a college residential environment or two years of
experience in a student affairs-related area.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in College Student Personnel Administration, Counseling, Higher Education
Administration, or a related field is strongly preferred. Previous experience working within a college student housing
program is strongly preferred.
