Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Construction Sales Manager familiar with drywall, and to a lesser extent - residential painting. Reporting directly to the Company Owners, this Construction Sales Manager will be responsible for generating drywall installation and painting sales while maintaining client relationships with major builders in the Hampton Roads area. The role involves identifying new business opportunities, understanding client needs, and providing tailored solutions that align with the company’s services.
Essential Job Responsibilities
· Aggressively solicit business from current and prospective customers to maintain and increase our customer base.
· Maintain good customer relations by traveling throughout Hampton Roads to meet with existing and prospective customers while assessing and managing customer needs.
· Penetrate new and existing market areas to maintain and increase sales and market share.
· Be familiar with drywall and paint pricing, costs and applications including custom, commercial and residential applications.
· Meet with Vendors to help secure competitive and best pricing, and work in concert with Estimators relative to pricing changes.
· Monitor, and when necessary, adjust or develop initiatives focused on customer retention and/or enhanced customer service capabilities.
· Maintain awareness of the activities of all competitors.
· Assist with the identification and implementation of price increases.
· Participate in business-related meetings, conferences, social functions and civic organizations to boost the overall exposure of the Company.
· Court, cultivate, secure and act as liaison between the company Estimating Department and major customers.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree from a four (4) year college or university (preferred but not required);
· Knowledge or experience in Drywall sales and installation (highly preferred);
· Knowledge or experience in Painting (preferred but not required);
· Two (2) to three (3) years of sales experience with thorough knowledge of sales techniques (required)…OREquivalent combination of education and experience;
· Possess a valid driver's license and a driving record that meets standard insurance coverage requirements;
· Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills;
· Ability to read, analyze and interpret business-related periodicals, professional journals, technical journals or governmental regulations; ability to read and understand architectural plans is preferred;
· Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedural directives;
· Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers and the general public;
· Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and mark-ups.
· Ability to work with field and office personnel to help resolve customer issues and/or better service customers.
· Ability to self-direct various assigned initiatives and to work independently;
· Proficiency in MS-Office Suite – particularly MS-Word and MS-Excel;
