NEWSPAPER DELIVERY IN PORTSMOUTH, VA (contractor)
DETAILS:
This is an overnight job delivering the Virginian-Pilot newspaper to subscribers in Portsmouth.
WHAT DOES A TYPICAL NIGHT LOOK LIKE?
-The truck usually arrives between 1am and 2am
-Carriers come in and collect the allotted papers for their route(s)
-Carriers can bag their papers in the warehouse or take them to bag in the car as they go (all papers must be bagged)
-Carrier delivers the papers on their route(s); Routes are neatly laid out with clear directions to each address which carriers can access on their phone or request a print-out. Routes include store deliveries but are mostly home deliveries. Any special instructions (ie to leave the paper on the porch or to put in the paper tube) are clearly marked on each address.
-The current routes available take 1-2 hours to finish once you are familiar with the route
-Once carrier has completed the route(s), they can go directly home.
IMPORTANT TO NOTE:
This is a contractor position. Any routes contracted are your full responsibility. The time you spend running the route(s) is entirely up to you and the only requirements are that you finish delivering your route by 6:30am on weekdays and 7:30am on Sundays. Newspapers are delivered 7 nights a week, every day of the year, including holidays.
Currently there are five routes open in these areas of Portsmouth (number of papers and pay will fluctuate due to subscriber counts) :
-Cavalier Manor Area (110 papers a night, $125 a week)
-Airline Blvd / Turnpike Rd (105 papers a night, $120 a week)
-High St / Airline Blvd (80 papers a night, $85 a week)
-Portsmouth Blvd / Frederick Blvd / Effingham St (100 papers a night, $115 per week)
-Craddock / Deep Creek Blvd (100 papers, $115 a week)
PAY:
Each available route pays $80-$125 per week PLUS weekly tips PLUS monthly bonuses based on performance numbers
Contractors are welcome to run multiple routes to increase pay as long as deadlines and service requirements are met.
Newspapers are delivered 7 days a week, 365 days a year, but this job is very easy to fit into otherwise busy school and work schedules. Contractors can set up substitute drivers/assistants at their discretion.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must have a reliable vehicle
Must have a valid driver’s license
Must have proof of - at least - liability insurance
Must be 18 years or older
