Job Summary: The Department of Political Science at Radford University is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor with an emphasis on Law and Legal Studies, beginning in the fall of 2025. Candidates with any legal specialty are invited to apply; those with expertise in Public Administration, Public Policy, or Political Theory are particularly welcome. We seek a vibrant scholar who will add to the strengths of our department.The Assistant Professor will teach four classes per semester in consultation with the department chair based on student needs, faculty interest and expertise, and departmental strategic priorities. This faculty member will oversee and advise students in the Legal Studies minor and the Law Society student/alumni group and coordinate with the Criminal Justice Department on the award-winning Mock Trial program. The new member of the Radford faculty will be an excellent classroom instructor and active researcher.The faculty member’s job duties will include:

Teach courses in Political Science and Legal Studies as scheduled.

Conduct scholarly research in the appropriate field.

Advise and mentor undergraduate Political Science majors with a Legal Studies emphasis and Legal Studies Minors as well as the Law Society.

Undertake service at the department, college, and university levels.

Expertise in Law.

Candidates are expected to be excellent classroom teachers.

An active research agenda in the faculty member’s specialty.

A Ph.D. or near completion in Political Science and/or a Juris Doctor degree.
