This role involves reviewing financial records, interviewing clients, and ensuring that tax returns are accurate and comply with federal, state, and local regulations. Tax Review:
Review final federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and other entities.
Analyze client financial records, including income statements, balance sheets, and other relevant documents.
Ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations.
Client Interaction:
Conduct interviews with clients to validate financial information if necessary.
Provide clients with information on tax laws and regulations.
Advise clients on potential tax liabilities and benefits.
Documentation and Filing:
Ensure accurate records of tax returns and related documents.
Respond to client inquiries regarding their tax returns.
Tax Planning:
Assist clients with tax planning to minimize future tax liabilities.
Stay updated on changes in tax laws that may impact clients.
Compliance and Audit:
Assist with tax audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
Ensure compliance with IRS and state tax regulations.
Software Utilization:
Use tax preparation software to complete tax returns.
Maintain proficiency in current tax software and updates.
Required Competencies:Tax:
Fully researches issues and presents pertinent guidance in support of suggested alternatives

Displays ability to consolidate returns, do more complex tax returns without supervision
Ability to effectively use the firm's technology including MS Office and tax software

Researches, develops, and documents complicated taxation issues
Understands gift tax 709 and estate tax 706
Conducts detailed reviews on all returns and appropriate review notes for preparers;
raises potential tax issues
Demonstrates appropriate understanding of firm policies and standards related to ASC 740‐10
Proficient knowledge of FAS 109, FIN 48, FAS 5, FAS 141R, FAS 123R, APB 2
Ability to prepare the following forms: 1120,1065, 1120S and 1040
Proactively takes part in tax planning for clients
Demonstrates an understanding of clients tax needs including review of organizational structure and any/all other entities held by the organization which could be impacted by this work
Client Service:
Interacts successfully with clients building trust and rapport.
Assists firm members in follow‐up with clients to ensure expectations were met
Stays abreast of industry publications for targeted client industries to build basic knowledge

Qualifications/Skills:
Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws.

Education and Experience Requirements:Education:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.Certification as a Tax Preparer (e.g., CPA, EA) is a plus.Experience:Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in tax preparation, preferably in an accounting firm.Experience with tax preparation software (e.g., TurboTax, Lacerte, or similar).Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
