Description We are looking to onboard a Controller in Reston, Virginia, in the detail-oriented services industry. The Controller will be entrusted with overseeing daily accounting operations, ensuring compliance with GAAP regulations, and providing strategic leadership in all financial matters.Responsibilities: Manage day-to-day accounting operations effectively Maintain timely and precise preparation of financial statements Ensure strict adherence to GAAP accounting regulations, laws, and tax guidelines Collaborate with external auditors for smooth facilitation of audits and prompt resolution of any audit findings Prepare comprehensive accounting reports, including balance sheets and cash flow statements, to provide insights to the leadership team Conduct detailed accounting analysis and variance reports to identify trends, issues, and areas for improvement Oversee cash flow and liquidity management to meet operational needs Supervise accounting staff, providing guidance and training on accounting practices and procedures Establish and reinforce accounting policies and best practices to ensure uniformity and accuracy across the organization Ensure timely and accurate submission of corporate tax returns and stay updated on changes to applicable laws and accounting standards Recommend improvements in accounting processes, systems, and reporting mechanisms for increased efficiency Oversee the selection, implementation, and maintenance of accounting systems and software Advise the leadership on all accounting processes and procedures, and collaborate to develop strategies that support business objectives Review budget reports and assist executive directors in preparing annual budgets Lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads to develop and refine budget plans Prepare and maintain accounting forecasts to assess performance against the budget and make necessary adjustments.
