Job Responsibilities
While working as a Secure Enterprise Network Engineer, you will perform challenging network architecture design, strategic planning, research, technology integration, and Tier IV support to a high-availability secure enterprise cloud data infrastructure / transport network in support of the US Government at a facility in the Northern VA / Washington D.C. area. As a subject matter expert in the field of network engineering, you will be an important direct link between the customer site and company. An understanding of overarching INFOSEC and COMSEC security requirements enhances the complexity and responsibilities of this role.
You will perform a full range of complex network design tasks encompassing multiple technologies, including evaluating network technologies and making recommendations to the customer and managers. You will perform research and evaluation of current and emerging technologies to identify COTS/GOTS/Custom solutions and future developments that further improve the capabilities of the customer's network infrastructure and meet evolving system requirements. You will help integrate advanced secure communication and networking equipment, along with other associated technologies for the optimal performance of the customer's network. You will perform Tier IV level support of equipment/technology, implementing moderately complex O&M tasks, and directly managing issue resolutions as needed.
The role will primarily focus on the RTN SIS technology layer, while enabling participation in the customer's enterprise network architecture, design, planning, rollout, and roadmap efforts at all levels of the OSI. (For example, you will participate in OSI Layer 3 routing architectural meetings where impacts to OSI layers 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, or 7 are all considered.) You will help develop strategies and propose plans to update network configurations and integrate new technologies, based on knowledge of the performance characteristics of both the proposed system(s) and the customer's existing network, to achieve peak network performance.
