Accounting Manager for Millwork Company

We are family-owned, Richmond-based, leading manufacturer of custom casework and architectural millwork, proudly serving commercial, institutional, and high-end residential markets. With a strong reputation for craftsmanship, innovation, and service, we are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join our team. This role is critical to ensuring the financial integrity and operational success of our growing business.

As the Accounting Manager, you will oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring accurate financial reporting, timely month-end closings, and compliance with internal controls and external regulations. You’ll play a key role in supporting our manufacturing operations by working closely with the Purchasing Manager and Accounts Payable Specialist to ensure seamless coordination of financial and operational data.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely posting of transactions.

Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting.

Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and reports.

Collaborate with the Purchasing Manager to reconcile purchase orders, job costing, and inventory records.

Supervise the Accounts Payable Specialist, ensuring timely vendor payments and accurate coding.

Monitor and analyze manufacturing costs and variances in collaboration with production and purchasing.

Support cash flow management, including forecasting and working capital analysis.

Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and external regulatory requirements.

Work with external auditors during audits and tax preparation.

Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes.

Continuously seek opportunities to improve accounting processes and systems.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred but not required).

Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.

Experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.

Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (experience with job costing and inventory modules is a plus).

Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls.

Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with operations, purchasing, and finance teams.
