Timmons Group is seeking a Utility Field Coordinator candidate for our Urban Land Development Group located in our Richmond office. This position focuses on field coordination and design. Under the general direction of the senior utility field coordinator, engineers, and other technical staff, the candidate will perform all aspects of dry utility plan preparation, utility conflict analysis, permit procurement, and dry utility construction coordination.  This is an entry level position, but previous experience in dry utility construction is highly desirable. Experience in the construction of general transportation, commercial, or large-scale residential projects is a plus.The ideal candidate is comfortable talking with people in both casual and professional settings. They answer phone calls and emails promptly and professionally. They are willing to work both in the field and behind the desk. They are willing to learn the software needed to perform in-office duties. They are an analytical thinker, a problem solver, and a reliable employee.This position is a field-heavy role, but this team member is expected to round out their skill set and participate in in-office design and drafting work as needed.Essential duties and responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:Coordinate between utility owners, developers, and internal staff during all stages of the lifetime of a project.Complete field observation, inspection and data collection duties as directed by senior engineering staff and the senior field coordinator.Assist in the preparation of engineering and construction cost estimates.Accompany field crew in the location of existing dry utilities or to collect data required for revision of construction drawings.Independently lead field visits and site walks as needed.Prepare specifications materials through the use of research and manufacturing catalogs to specify materials, installation, inspection and payment of items specific to a projectPerform research and write objective summary reports which are used in the completion of the project work or inspectionReviews sketches, drawings, specifications, and other engineering data received from engineering staff.Using Civil3D, completes detailed drawings from sketches, plans, specifications, and written/verbal instructions. (Previous Civil3D experience preferred but not necessary)Interprets engineering data to effectively and efficiently complete assigned tasks.Works cooperatively with CAD Technicians and/or Engineers to complete assigned work.Complete other tasks as assignedSkills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:Associate of Science degree in Engineering, surveying, or related field requiredBachelor's Degree in a technical field or in a field that demonstrates strong communicative and analytical skills preferred. Examples include, but are not limited to; communication, construction engineering, business management, and civil engineeringConstruction site experience strongly preferredAutoCAD, Civil 3D, or MicroStation experience preferredExperience with dry utility design and plan/profile creation preferredCivil engineering experience in transportation or land development preferredStrong analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detailExceptional interpersonal, communication, facilitation, and organizational skillsConversational in Spanish preferredA valid driver's license, clean driving record and ability to drive a company vehicle requiredMust be willing to travel on occasionMust be able to carry up to 50 lb. of equipment over all types of terrainAbility to work in an all-weather year-round outdoor work environment, with seasonal extreme heat index and wind-chill factors
