International Roofing Corporation is seeking a dedicated Roofing Assistant / Laborer to join our team in Richmond, VA. The ideal candidate will assist in all aspects of commercial roofing projects, including handling TPO (Thermoplastic Olefin) and EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) roofing materials, as well as maintaining a safe and clean work environment. Key Responsibilities:
Material Management:
Ensure trucks are stocked with TPO, EPDM, flashing, adhesives, and other necessary commercial roofing materials.
Keep trucks organized and clean, removing any leftover materials or debris.
Tool and Material Handling:
Assist in safely transporting roofing materials and tools to the roof, ensuring proper handling of TPO and EPDM materials.
Use proper lifting techniques and safety equipment (harness, gloves, hard hat) when handling roofing materials and heavy equipment.
Work Area Maintenance:
Clean the job site regularly, ensuring all debris, scrap materials, and tools are safely stored or disposed of.
Maintain a safe working environment by reducing clutter and identifying potential hazards.
Skill Development:
Learn new commercial roofing skills under the supervision of experienced roofing professionals, including TPO and EPDM installation techniques.
Participate in on-the-job training to improve your knowledge of roofing systems, materials, and installation practices.
Team Support:
Assist with various tasks as needed, ensuring the smooth operation of roofing projects.
Communicate effectively with team members to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
Qualifications:
Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
Willingness to learn new skills and grow within the commercial roofing industry.
Previous experience in construction or roofing is a plus but not required.
Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions.
Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of TPO, EPDM, and BUR roofing materials and their installation methods.
Experience with basic roofing tools and materials.
Experience with ladders, hoists, or scaffolding.
Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions.
