InMotion Hosting is looking for a Lead Data Center Technician committed to providing highly reliable service and strong technical expertise to join our team in our Ashburn, VA Data Center. The Data Center Technician Team Lead will help ensure server readiness, network maintenance, and inventory of hardware and software necessary for InMotion Hosting and our customers.
What You’ll Do:
Help lead a team committed to providing highly reliable service and strong technical expertise to our customers and coworkers
Resolve open issues while ensuring high uptime
Provide server maintenance including hardware upgrades and replacements in our data center
Rack and cable servers, documenting all changes to inventory
Act as an escalation point from data center technicians and systems. Determine the best approach to solve their issues, and educate them in understanding why
Meet shared quality and production standards for the data center group
Handle RMAs though the multiple vendors in a timely manner
Perform occasional checks on HVAC Systems, DC temperatures, power utilization, and “Amber checks” for errors
Handle the hardware and initial software portion of Evacs when needed.
Ensure that the PXE server is kept up to date with the correct OS versions
Update scripts to ensure that all servers received the OS and updates that are needed based on server brand
Ensure documentation is up to date by maintaining the online IMH Wiki, NetBox and other Operational tools

What We’re Looking for:
Experience providing hardware and intermediate Linux support, preferably in a data center environment.
Previous Team Lead or Supervisor experience is preferred
Expert level knowledge with Linux and its commands/utilities at a user level including the ability to handle Linux related issues where the server is inaccessible by standard remote access techniques
Strong understanding of runlevels, basic Linux networking, partitioning, LVM, Software Raid, and running file system checks
Strong understanding of drive cloning, formatting, mounting, testing, and upgrade procedures
Familiarity with RAM types (Standard, ECC, ECC-REG) and the ability to correctly identify these modules for proper upgrades
Understanding of Dell “Quad-pack” and what the various codes mean
Basic idea of postcodes and how to troubleshoot related issues
Familiarity with general networking concepts and switch/router hardware. Basic understanding of switch and/or router language is a plus
Experience ordering hardware while working within a budget
Strong understanding of the Web Hosting industry and how things in it work, including, but not limited to cPanel, DNS, MySQL, CentOS, PHP, Perl, Python, shared servers, VPS, Dedicated servers, Nodes, IPv4, IPv6, and other such items
Experience in Cloud computing and various Cloud computing architectures such as OpenStack, Ironic, and Ansible
Ability to travel domestically and internationally
