Custodial Floor Technician

SUMMARY:The Custodial Floor Technician maintains the standards of cleanliness in accordance with operating procedures and adheres to all other University of Richmond policies and guidelines. The Custodial Floor Technician also upholds the Facilities Department's mission which is to create and maintain an outstanding learning environment through constant attention to our community's needs and thoughtful care of beautiful campus. RESPONSIBILITIES:Advocates safety for everyone on campus by identifying, reporting and addressing when appropriateInteracts daily with diverse staff, students and faculty by providing a welcoming and positive atmospherePreserves the heritage and unique infrastructure of the University by exceeding industry cleanliness standardsCleans assigned areas as directed and follows operating proceduresResponsible for the care and upkeep of resources provided to them by the UniversityOperates various types of equipment used for floor care maintenance such as automatic scrubbers, wet/dry vacuums, carpet extractors, burnishers, etc.Performs various tasks including but not limited to mopping, burnishing, stripping, waxing, refinishing, scrubbing and cleaning different floor types.Responds and assists with any custodial related requests as directedWORKING HOURS/PHYSICAL EFFORT:Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 50 poundsMust be able to properly operate floor care equipmentMust be able to stand for long periods of time, go up and down stairs and walk for long periodsMust be able to work outdoors under adverse weather conditions including heat, rain and snowFrequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materialsQUALIFICATIONS:Minimum of a High School degree or educational equivalent preferredOne year or more of experience in custodial operations or a related field preferredProfessional experience in floor care preferredAbility to effectively communicate with listed contacts aboveRequired: possess a valid Driver's License and be able to produce a driving record with a minimum of 3 years of driving history in good standingWORK HOURS:Full-time, non-exempt position Hours are Monday - Friday, 5:00 a.m.- 1:30p.m.; 8 hrs./day; 40 hrs./weekAll Facilities employees are designated as essential personnel and are subject to work outside the normal work schedule on an emergency basis and are subject to planned overtime work as required by their immediate supervisor.PAY STRUCTURE:Grade 2 ($15.15 to $17.80 per hour)
