This is a long-term, flexible opportunity. You can work on your own schedule from home.
Responsibilities:
Identify specific cold case files from your state that are of interest to our production.
Draft and submit official FOIA or open records requests to local police departments, county sheriff's offices, and state law enforcement agencies. This often involves filling out a simple online form or sending a detailed email.
Follow up on requests and correspond with law enforcement personnel as needed, which may include making phone calls to the police department.
Digitize and organize case files once they are received.
Compensation:
$10 per case requested: You will be paid for every official FOIA request you successfully submit.
$50 for every successful request: This bonus is paid when we receive the case file in a complete and usable format.
Requirements:
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Excellent written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage your own time.
An interest in investigative research and public records.
Prior experience with FOIA or public records requests is a plus, but not required. We will provide guidance on the process.
