Our Puget Sound Region is hiring a Transportation Roadway Project Engineer to support our Roads and Highways group while working on transportation related projects. This position can be filled in our Bellevue, Tacoma, Seattle or Olympia offices and will support DEA\'s challenging transportation projects including Fish Passage and design-build.
A successful candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter assigned to work on multidiscipline projects using specialized technical skills, experience and engineering judgment to transform concept designs into construction drawings and technical specifications. The work may include street improvements, utility plans, freeway, highway and roadway design, construction documents and all necessary supporting documentation. Our ideal candidate would be proficient with horizontal and vertical alignment design, stormwater/sanitary sewer/waterline designs, utility relocations, coordination with structural engineers and other engineering disciplines, quantity take-offs, specifications, and engineer\'s estimates. Traffic engineering design, including traffic signal and illumination, experience is a plus. The candidate would also be eager to accept new challenges to diversify their skills by not only performing transportation engineering work, but also construction observation, general civil design, and traffic engineering. Finally, a successful candidate will have good interpersonal and communication skills that can thrive in a hybrid in-office/remote work setting.
Other duties include:
Serve as task leader to coordinate projects with project managers and team members
Provide sketches and/or detailed layout information to design staff for incorporation into the construction drawings
Design, prepare and analyze preliminary and final plans in Autodesk Civil 3D and Microstation/InRoads software
Prepare and design street/highway improvement plans
Analyzes maps, reports, drawings, as-builts for design projects
Develop reports, specifications and designs for projects
Develop, track and modify project schedules.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor\'s degree in Civil Engineering
Professional Civil Engineering License
5+ years of civil engineering design related to roadway projects
Microstation/Inroads project experience
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Technical writing skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional Civil Engineering License in State of Washington
Project experience with Bentley OpenRoads
Professional Engineering license in the State of Washington
Project experience with WSDOT and local public agencies
Experience developing project schedules in Primavera P6

A successful candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter assigned to work on multi-discipline projects as a project engineer (or task leader) and perform engineering calculations and design using specialized technical skills, experience and engineering judgment to transform concept designs into construction drawings and technical specifications. The work may include street improvements, utility plans, freeway, highway and roadway design, construction documents and all supporting documentation. This position can be located in Seattle, Bellevue, Olympia or Tacoma, WA.
Other duties include:
Coordinate projects with supervisor, project managers, and firm staff.
Ensure excellence in project execution for on-time, on-budget deliverables of quality that meet or exceed the industry\'s standard of care
Participate in business development activities
Provide sketches and/or detailed layout information to design staff for incorporation into the construction drawings.
Designs, prepares, or oversees the preparation of preliminary and final plans in Autodesk Civil 3D, and Microstation/InRoads software.
Prepares and/or directs the design of roadway, traffic, or stormwater plans
Preparation and modification of reports, specifications and cost estimates for project.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor\'s degree in Civil Engineering

Minimum 7 years of civil engineering design related to transportation projects
Project experience with local agencies or state DOTs
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional Engineer in the State of Washington

Local experience in the Puget Sound Region
Storm water collection and water quality treatment design experience

Design Authority Deputy - Safety Analysis
The Design Authority Deputy - Safety Analysis reports directly to the Senior Vice President, Design Authority and is a position focused on technical oversight of the Natrium design with a focus on the area of Safety Analysis. The Design Authority Deputy represents the Design Authority across all areas of the Natrium project. In this role you will provide leadership, guidance, mentorship, creative and technical oversight to multiple teams to ensure a high level of strategic integration. The Design Authority Deputy will provide overall strategic direction for the department and for the Natrium project, including partner design organizations.
Responsibilities
Provide technical oversight to the Natrium design teams with a focus on the areas of Safety Analysis, Probabilistic Risk Assessment, Methods Development, and Plant Integrated Analysis,
Work in collaboration with the project organization on technical issues and risks that important to the success of Natrium.
Proactively set technical strategies in partnership with the project organization management and TerraPower leadership.
Provide technical expertise to aid in resolution of technical differences of opinion.
Represent the Design Authority in the technical decision-making and design change control processes.
Approve highly cross-functional deliverables.
Provide oversight of key design programs associated with Safety Analysis and work in collaboration with the design programs team and the project organization to ensure their successful implementation.
Establish and maintain network of subject matter experts to support the Design Authority mission.
Provide overall strategic direction and goals for the department.
Interface with other Design Authority senior leaders on resource utilization, administrative and technical matters.
Ensure compliance with engineering procedures and training.
Support licensing activities associated with the department.
Coordinate and lead planning efforts and maintain schedule.
Support business development activities.
Develop department specific operating procedures/processes.
Key Qualifications and Skills
B.S. or higher in relevant engineering discipline from an accredited university and 20+ years direct experience in the commercial nuclear power industry.
Experience in Safety Analysis for new plant design efforts, especially implementation of the Licensing
