Whatcom Community College welcomes applications for an Applied Music instructor in Harp for winter quarter 2025. Students will be assigned as needed on a quarterly basis. The successful candidate will:
-Maintain an active performing career.
-Have experience teaching collegiate-level applied harp.
-Have experience with both classical and traditional instruments and styles.
-Use student-centered, inclusive pedagogy and teaching methods.
-Engage in collaborative communication practices and activities with students and colleagues.
Responsibilities
-Prepare and implement learning materials for MUSC 150 and MUSC 250 Applied Music.
-Communicate with Discipline Lead and colleagues in preparation for quarterly student performances.
-Read and respond to emails from students, faculty and staff.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree in music with experience teaching collegiate-level harp.
-Evidence of an active performing career.
-Experience performing, teaching and/or studying both classical and traditional instruments and styles.
Preferred Qualifications
-Master's degree in music with at least three years of experience teaching collegiate-level harp.
-Experience navigating Canvas Learning Management System.
-Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in student-centered instruction.
-Demonstrated history of collaboration with colleagues.
Salary:
-$770 per student for winter quarter.
Benefit Package:
-Accrues a percentage of 7 hours (equal to the percentage of workload) per month of sick leave (ex. 50% quarterly employment contract x 7 hrs for full-time = 3.5 hrs per month for that quarter).
Start Date:
-Winter Quarter 2025.
