JWR Design, Inc. is a small residential building design firm interested in hiring an optimistic and determined individual eager to work hard and seeking a great opportunity in a growing company. The positions available include a drafting technician. The primary role of this position is to work on AutoCAD putting together technical drawings for residential home designs. This involves taking the schematic design and working through design development drawings, which include floor plans and elevations, and then finishing the drawings by working through the construction drawings, which includes foundation plan and details, floor framing plans, roof framing plans, and building sections. The designs this person will be working on vary in complexity, style, and size, with each project having its own intricacies. This requires a very detailed mindset and demands that the position be filled by someone who can take the time they need to produce very thorough drawings. In addition, there are many different codes and location specific requirements that the drawings need to fulfill, which will require patience and a willingness to educate yourself on the requirements.
Experience/Requirements:
- 2 years experience in a related field (construction experience preferred but not required)
- Knowledge of AutoCAD Architecture
- Highly motivated, hard worker, detail oriented, punctual and reliable
