Mt Baker Products is a premier manufacturer of decorative plywood used for cabinetry, furniture and interiors throughout North America. Our company uses veneers like cherry, walnut and oak, to produce high-end panels for the woodworking industry. We currently have an immediate opening for a Forklift Driver (Utility) to join our team on day shift.
PAY RATE: $23.00/hour
SCHEDULE: Day Shift: Monday-Friday 5:00am to 1:30pm.
Potential Overtime, including Saturdays.
Minimum of one-year prior forklift experience required. Certification is not required. WE WILL CERTIFY!
JOB SUMMARY:
Drives propane powered industrial truck equipped with lifting devices such as forklift, to move product, equipment, or materials by performing the following duties, and other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operate a forklift safely and efficiently; initially pass company forklift certification training, and keep certification current, per company requirements.
Organize and prepare materials for movement, per production schedule.
Unloads and stacks material by raising and lowering lifting device.
Inventories materials on work floor, and supply workers with materials as needed.
Weighs materials or products and records weight on tags, labels, or production schedules.
Loads or unloads materials onto or off pallets, skids, or lifting device.
Perform standard upkeep procedures for forklift; immediately report any safety concerns to supervisor or maintenance manager.
Work cooperatively within and across departments.
Other duties, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of one year of recent forklift experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment with a production schedule. Current certification is not required to apply; the candidate will need to successfully complete the company's forklift certification class.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Ability to perform basic math functions (add; subtract; multiply; divide) and read/understand English to follow production schedule, customer order tickets, safety policies, and work instructions.
Ability to timely move materials in a safe and efficient manner, per assigned schedule. Requires excellent time management and organizational skills.
Must be extremely safety-minded; be willing and able to comply with all safety rules and PPE requirements, including wearing a seatbelt.
Must be willing and available to work overtime, including on Saturdays.
EXPERIENCE:
One year previous forklift experience.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee can be exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather) and outdoor weather conditions.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
