Job description
inspect, maintain, and repair vehicles, machinery, and light trucks:
Identify problems: Mechanics use diagnostic equipment and technical manuals to identify issues.
Perform repairs: Mechanics fix mechanical problems with parts like the engine, transmission, brakes, and electronics. They may also perform minor welding and brazing.
Maintain vehicles: Mechanics perform basic maintenance like oil changes, fluid checks, and tire rotations. They may also complete preventative maintenance to keep vehicles running efficiently.
Explain repairs to customers: Mechanics discuss repair costs and plans with customers, and explain automotive problems and repairs.
Monitor inventory: Mechanics monitor spare part inventory and ensure there's enough on hand.
Keep records: Mechanics keep records and make reports.
Operate machinery: Mechanics operate tools, equipment, and machinery safely.
