Mt Baker Products has been a premier manufacturer of Hardwood Plywood since the 1930's. To make our panels, layers of veneer need to be hand-loaded into a multi-opening press. The modern method used today is certainly safer and larger than the old days, but it's still the same basic process. It takes skill and strength to do the job well, and we're willing to train you to do it right!
Job Summary:
The Plywood Press Trainee puts assembled panels into presses where the glue permanently bonds the layers of wood into a panel, then unloads the presses at the completion of the cycle.
Starting Pay: $23.00/hour
Work Schedule: Tuesday - Friday (4x10). Additional overtime potential, including on Saturdays.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Load press at a productive pace to ensure panels do not dry;
- Blow off panels using pneumatic air tools in tandem with another press helper;
- Clean press to ensure there is no build-up or residual debris;
- Use conveyers to move plywood to pre-press and hot press;
- Work closely with Quality Control (QC) team to ensure product meets established standards; report any quality or productivity concerns to QC Department.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age;
- No experience is necessary; we will train. Previous experience in work requiring continuous movement/exertion is helpful, such as custodial, landscaping, construction or package delivery;
- Ability to work safely while meeting productivity requirements; ability to wear PPE, as assigned;
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment;
- Ability to stand for long periods on a raising and lowering platform;
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. regularly;
- Ability to work overtime, including on weekends.
