Tree care technician

We are a small niche Landscape Company known for expert tree care and pruning with a reputation for a deep understanding of the integrated living systems that make up the outdoor spaces we love.

Here are the basics for what I am looking for.

YOU COME WITH

Availability: Monday - Friday 25-30 hours per week for 10 months out of the year. February - November

Prerequisites:

Have 4 years of Professional tree care and pruning and 4 years of landscape maintenance.

Can lead a small crew 2-3 people

Has good communication and customer relation skills to communicate with clients

You are self-motivated to work by yourself, keep to a schedule and finish projects to completion. And when completion isn’t possible you are motivated to track the details and return to finish what you have started.

Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Have clean driving record and your own vehicle, a smart phone, able to show up at 8am everyday

Work with and learn from others,

Experience with and excitement for learning about plants, soil, pests and disease, roots and shoots and how things grow and thrive.

You come with an ability to communicate well with coworkers and supervisors about the details of the job.

You have an excitement to work day after day outdoors doing hard and satisfying physical work.

You are a problem-solver who can learn a variety of systems and then offer up ways to improve them.

You can review a client’s project and see the big picture goals while also being able to focus in on the details that make the work stand out.

Respect. Patience. Strong internal work ethic. Safety First Mind-Set. Drive for completion. Please no smoking, no drugs, and no alcohol use while working.

Bonus Points for: Knowledge of typical landscape plants, knowledge of modern pruning techniques, botanical knowledge, experience with chainsaws, chippers, weed whackers, hedge trimming, or other small 2 cycle engines. (we don't mow lawns so you won't be asked to sit on a lawn mower all day long!). Drive a full sized pickup truck, manual transmission, tow and backup a trailer, drive a tractor, familiarity with irrigation systems.

Compensation and Benefits:

Hourly pay to start depends on experience $35-$37 hourly. We are looking to hire someone who has a lot of experience pruning fruit and ornamental trees. Please do not apply if you have casual pruning experience. This new hire needs to be able to lead a crew from start to finish on a job.

Time off from early December to mid January. We are flexible with other vacation time if requested in advance

Immediate benefits include - A yearly uniform and tool stipend and a Paid Birthday off. Whether it's a work day or not, you get a bonus day each year.

After working for Rain Dance for one year we have benefits that include a 1 week paid vacation, massage/body wellness reimbursements and we will pay for half the cost of becoming a certified arborist.

Learning New Things. Every day we explore the natural world and share about plant ID, plant physiology, how plants grow and how to prune them for best health and growth or fruit production. Soil science, disease and pest ID, environmental stresses, and much more.
