Job description
As the Community Relations Specialist, you will be responsible for designing and implementing strategic outreach initiatives and coordinating engaging events that strengthen Gabriel's Art Kids's community presence. This role requires exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, creativity in event planning, and the ability to manage fundraising efforts. You will work closely with the Director and Marketing teams to create meaningful connections between GAK and the broader community while supporting organizational growth.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Arts Administration, or related field preferred
Minimum 2 years of experience in community outreach, event planning, or relationship management
Proven track record of successful event planning and execution
Excellent interpersonal and networking skills
Strong written and verbal communication abilities
Experience in fundraising and donor relations
Proficiency with social media platforms and digital communication tools
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Experience in arts education or nonprofit sector is a plus
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends for events
RESPONSIBILITIES
Event Planning and Coordination
Plan and execute diverse events including fundraisers, showcases, and community art days with measurable attendance growth targets
Develop and manage event budgets with attention to cost efficiency and revenue generation
Create comprehensive event timelines, run-of-show documents, and logistical plans
Implement and analyze post-event surveys to maintain high participant satisfaction
Coordinate volunteers for events and manage day-of logistics
Fundraising and Development
Plan and execute fundraising events with measurable revenue targets
Develop and implement strategies to increase donor acquisition and retention
Create targeted individual giving campaigns and track results
Secure corporate sponsorships and develop business partnerships
Expand monthly donor program with clear growth metrics
BONUS: Research grant opportunities and assist with application preparation
Community Outreach and Relationship Building
Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with local businesses, schools, and community organizations
Represent GAK at community events and networking opportunities
Recruit, train, and retain volunteers for organizational support
Create and implement outreach programs that increase GAK's visibility in the community
Document partnership agreements with defined mutual benefits
Marketing and Communications Support
Collaborate with marketing team on promotional materials for events and outreach initiatives
Create engaging content for newsletters, social media, and press releases
Track metrics for social media engagement, newsletter click-through rates, and website traffic
Secure media coverage for events and programs
Implement strategies to increase brand awareness with measurable outcomes
Collaboration and Teamwork
Lead cross-departmental initiatives with clear goals and outcomes
Ensure effective information sharing with all staff about upcoming events and partnerships
Provide support for program showcases and special events
Implement improvements based on staff feedback
Maintain organized documentation of all activities, partnerships, and events
