We’re looking for an Airbrush Artist with scenic/theming or prop experience who can bring environments and characters to life with professional, production-ready finishes.
Role Overview
The Airbrush Artist is responsible for airbrushed scenic finishes, shading, and detail work on our themed products. You’ll turn carved and coated forms into show-ready pieces that match our design intent and can be repeated across multiple builds.
Responsibilities
Airbrush high-quality finishes on foam, urethane hard coat, fiberglass, and textured scenic surfaces.
Create gradients, shadows, highlights, aging, rust, wood, stone, and character/organic looks.
Work from concept art and paint elevations to match approved colors and styles.
Mix, reduce, and label paints for consistent, repeatable results.
Prep surfaces: priming, masking, basic brush work as needed.
Maintain airbrush gear: cleaning, troubleshooting, and organizing equipment.
Support general scenic painting (base coats, dry brush, washes) to hit deadlines.
Follow shop safety procedures for spraying, PPE, and material handling.
Qualifications
3+ years professional airbrush work in scenic, theming, props, custom paint, FX, or similar (portfolio required).
Strong control of gradients, detail, and texture; ability to match reference and color keys.
Experience with foam, urethane hard coats, fiberglass, or scenic textures preferred.
Comfortable in a fast-paced, production-focused shop environment.
Detail-oriented, reliable, and able to communicate clearly with designers and fabricators.
