The Whatcom Museum, located in the heart of downtown Bellingham, currently has an opening for a Part-Time Family Interactive Gallery (FIG) Associate.
A FIG Associate enthusiastically engages in fun and interactive learn-through-play experiences for visitors of all ages, with a special focus on pre-K youth. The FIG Associate provides a welcoming and memorable visitor experience, interacting directly with children and their caretakers, helping facilitate hands-on play, and sparking creativity in art, music, and science-focused activities.
The ideal candidate enjoys being around children and has excellent visitor service skills. The FIG Associate helps prepare materials for a variety of art and science hands-on activities and participates in FIG programs, such as birthday parties, summer camps, and field trips. Because of a mix of duties, the associate must be organized and have strong oral communication skills.

Experience working with children in a formal hands-on learning environment is essential. Applied experience or as part of a childhood education degree program is preferred.
Candidate should be willing and able to work flexible hours, Wednesday through Sunday, and occasionally more hours per week for vacation coverage.
