2019 SUMMER EMPLOYMENT AT THE WSU NORTHWEST RESEARCH AND EXTENSION CENTER

DESCRIPTION:
The Sustainable Seed Systems laboratory at Washington State University is seeking summer
employees to work 20-40 hours per week. Employees will assist with the maintenance of quinoa field research
plots located at the WSU Northwest Research and Extension Center in Mount Vernon, WA. Duties will include
general labor such as hand weeding, plant labeling, plot thinning, supervised data collection, seed harvesting, and
seed threshing. Prior experience with agricultural or outdoor research/labor is desirable, but not required. This
position will be 100% outdoors, and employees will need to walk, bend, and/or crouch for extended periods
of time. The requisite hand tools, safety equipment, and supervision will be provided. Some periods of self
supervision after receiving instructions may be required.
AVAILABILITY:
May”August (with the possible option of an
extension into September)
HOURS:
20-40 hours per week. Monday-Friday during NWREC hours of
operation (a specific schedule can be developed)
PAY:
$12.00/hour
