Whatcom Community College - Part-time Hourly, Student Helpdesk Staff

Whatcom Community College invites applications for a Part-Time Hourly, Student Helpdesk Staff member in the College's Student Helpdesk. Reporting to the IT Support Tech 1, this position assists students with technology issues, as well as answering their questions, and connecting them to other campus resources as necessary or requested. Student Helpdesk team members also assist students with how to use software and devices that are checked out or provided to them from Whatcom Community College.

Responsibilities

Typical work includes:

-Reloading supplies in printers and stationary supply areas.

-Assisting student via phone, Zoom, email, and in-person.

-Answering phones and checking messages.

-Assisting students with using Canvas.

-Assisting students with ctcLink.

-Assisting students with setting up their Student Network Accounts.

-Checking out equipment to students.

Preferred Qualifications:

-Working knowledge of Google Suite.

-Working knowledge of Microsoft office suite.

-Working knowledge of how to use Zoom.

-Working knowledge of Canvas.

-Familiar with electronic instructional programs.

-Familiar with connecting electronic devices to wireless networks.

-Strong English language skills.

-Flexibility and willingness to learn as technology updates occur.

-Customer Service skills and professional etiquette with clients/students.

Salary and Hours:

-This is a part-time hourly, non-permanent position with a wage of $17.28 per hour. Up to 17 hours per week.

-Physical ability to maneuver around the computer lab, including working under desks is required.

-Accrues 1 hour of sick leave for every 40 hours of work.

-As soon as can be arranged with successful candidate.
