Maintenance Technician
The Talbot Group is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our dynamic team at Barkley
Village.
The Position
Become part of a great team applying your skills and problem-solving abilities to perform
general maintenance and repairs for 23 buildings and grounds within our 250-acre urban village.
This integral work will include HVAC, plumbing, fire and life safety, electrical, access control and
security systems of the buildings and grounds within the village. This is an entry level position
with opportunity and growth for the right candidate.
The job will include: responding to work orders and tenant requests in a timely manner;
performing a variety of tasks related to building maintenance and repair, including but not limited
to: performing routine maintenance tasks such as changing filters, cleaning and clearing drains,
checking electrical systems, replacing light bulbs, and replacing equipment and fixtures as
needed. This position may assist with special projects and events as needed.
Standard position hours will be Mondays through Fridays from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm.
This individual will also serve as part of the Emergency Response team for occasional afterhour alarms and building issues.
The Person
The ideal candidate will be team oriented, take ownership of their responsibilities, and possess
a positive attitude. They should demonstrate attention to detail, have excellent communication
skills, and be personable, effectively representing the Talbot Group and Barkley Village.
We are seeking an individual with knowledge of, or the ability to learn, building systems such as
HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire suppression, access control, and other building components.
This person should be motivated to learn the inner workings of an urban village, including its
buildings and grounds, and be eager to work with tenants, vendors, contractors and
subcontractors.
Job Summary and Responsibilities
Utilize knowledge and skills, working under supervision to monitor building system operations
and performance, implementing maintenance and repairs while trouble shooting any problems
that arise.
Assist with necessary operating, maintenance, and repair tasks to assure maximum life
and reliability of building systems. Systems include, but are not limited to:
o HVAC
o Plumbing
o Electrical (as allowed by applicable Codes and/or incumbent licensing)
o Access Control
o Fire \ Life Safety
o General building maintenance, including:
▪ Door repair and keying
▪ Painting
▪ Ceiling repair
▪ Floor repair
▪ Roof maintenance and repair
▪ Miscellaneous and other
May assist with or provide oversight with work done by outside contractors. Contracted
work includes landscaping, snow removal, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, elevator
maintenance and janitorial.
Follow company guidelines regarding unwanted activities on private property.
Maintain positive working relationships with tenants, responding to requests in a
timely, professional, and courteous manner.
o Assist with or facilitate repair and\or replacement light fixtures, ballast, motors,
breaker, switches and receptacles.
o Assist with or facilitate basic and emergency plumbing repairs such as plugged
sewer lines, faucets and water valves.
o May learn and assist with re-key, repair, or changing locks when necessary.
o Assist with other maintenance and repair duties as necessary.
Daily interaction with the entire team.
Qualification
Display basic knowledge, or the ability and desire to acquire knowledge in the building
systems listed above.
An ability to work well under pressure.

Valid driver’s license
Ability to pass a required background check
