COMPENSATION: 2024 Rates

Full budgeted pay range is $66,123.20 - $82,659.20 (Step placement upon hire will be evaluated based on the candidate's years of relevant experience)

WTA is hiring a Dispatch Systems Coordinator to help support and focus on the developing needs in the Dispatch Center. This includes optimizing system upgrades, training, and maintaining software applications with improvements.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Dispatch Systems Coordinator serves as subject matter expert and Operations Division support staff for critical dispatch center software systems. Currently, these systems are Trapeze PASS and OPS, and the Clever Devices suite of Computer Assisted Dispatch (CAD) systems. The position coordinates user training for these systems while also occasionally working in those systems as a Dispatcher. The position is responsible for user support to ensure continuous operation of the dispatch systems used to deliver WTA transportation services. The coordinator is a key member of the "first responder" team with IT and Operations personnel for unexpected events or problems that affect critical dispatch operations functions. This position requires detailed focus and objectivity.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

-Provides support for dispatch systems users in the Operations Dispatch Center and Operations Staff to ensure service quality, safety, efficiency and compliance with established policies and procedures. Support includes prompt response to requests, questions, complaints, and operational problems. The coordinators will work proactively to investigate and find issues and make improvements needed with IT or Dispatch Manager

-In coordination with Dispatch Manager, develops, organizes, coordinates, and conducts training for Operations staff on dispatch systems software related to their job duties and functions, and on general dispatch information needs and requirements.

-Serves as primary liaison with IT Department for system user needs. Participates in IT Department efforts, training, and meetings, as needed.

-May serve as liaison with vendors and other organizations involved in service delivery and coordination with the

-Dispatch Manager and IT staff for dispatch software and hardware systems.

-Participates in testing and documentation for software upgrades; may help coordinate staff participation of the same. -

-This may require night work.

-Creates, develops, and maintains user documentation for dispatch systems.

-Learns, implements, and utilizes new functions in current dispatch software which would benefit WTA.

-Maintains system digital map features and tests new maps. Coordinates with other divisions on mapping efforts. Does boundary checks to resolve location ambiguities (involves digital review and field assessment).

-Maintains and ensures accuracy of system data prior to reports being run. Helps to find patterns of consistent errors and if they are user or system issues. Follow up with users to mitigate future errors and work collaboratively with others to find cause and fix system issues.

-Occasionally performs Dispatcher duties.

-Assists in developing Paratransit Operator markups.

-Supports dispatch system operation to protect confidentiality of rider information and accuracy of Dispatch Center service information, reports and data.

-Research dispatch system records (including confidential records) in response to Operations Division management needs and direction.

-Develops, maintains, and produces extensive daily and monthly statistical reports to ensure efficiency, service quality, compliance with Federal and State regulations, and compliance with WTA policies and budget limitations. May support report needs for non-operations departments.

-Provides report development and data analysis to Operations Division management for maintenance and improvement of service, dispatch systems and information output.

-Assists with development and implementation of service changes, special event service, and other planning duties.

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

-Participates in agency wide technology planning and implementation.

-Performs other related duties including non-business hours work and working remotely as assigned.

-Learn public transportation dispatch and scheduling principles, practices, and systems.

WORKING CONDITIONS, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT:

Duties performed primarily in an office environment but also requires driving or traveling to meetings, seminars, etc. Typical office equipment used to accomplish job tasks: computer, printer, fax machine, photocopier, calculator, two-way radio, and telephone system.

Incumbent must be available to work outside business hours occasionally, as needed.

Education and Experience:

-High school diploma or equivalent.

-Bachelor's degree, Associate degree, or certificate with emphasis in operations applications software preferred.

-Two year's experience in dispatch operations preferred.

-Two year's experience providing user support and/or training for a complex software application preferred.

-Applicants must have an acceptable driving record (in accordance with WTA personnel policy "Employment Requirements") and must submit a five-year driving abstract.

-Must pass a comprehensive background check in accordance with RCW 43.43.830 through 43.43.840, Child/Adult Abuse Information Act.

-Other combinations of education and experience, which would provide the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge and ability required to perform the job may be considered.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Physical Ability to perform essential job functions including, but not limited to, sitting for extended periods of time, standing, walking, stooping/bending, pushing/pulling/lifting (approximately up to 20 lbs.).

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position is classified as safety sensitive. Participation in the WTA's Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention Program is a requirement of employment which includes pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing. A background check will be conducted to include criminal records and driver's record.
