Route Delivery Driver

OverviewThe Delivery Driver is responsible for delivering customer orders in a productive, time sensitive and customer-oriented manner on a daily basis, ensuring efficiency, timeliness and customer satisfaction. This position must demonstrate safety, quality, operational expertise, and show proficiency when performing at least two delivery related activities, such as multiple route knowledge, delivery process expertise and procedural knowledge, and the ability to train associates in delivery functions.Primary Responsibilities:

Operate delivery vehicles in a safe and lawful manner. Responsible for the vehicle and its contents while following standard operating procedures. Must complete daily pre and post trip checklist.

Delivers product to customer locations meeting established delivery goals while ensuring efficiency, timeliness and customer satisfaction. Must collect and track customer returns through established Service Level Agreement.

Load, unload and secure product(s) to ensure customers receive clean and damage free merchandise.

Complete daily route and all appropriate paperwork. Communicate obstacles in Tier meeting that prohibit us from meeting established goals. Communicate customer feedback to sales and/or supervisory personnel.

Contribute ideas and suggestions for improvement utilizing LEAN practices.

Actively support implementation of and contribute ideas and suggestions for continuous improvement to the delivery processes.

Education and Experience:

Level of Formal Education: High School diploma or equivalent educaiton preferred

Years of Experience: Minimum 1-3 years of experience in related field

Type of Experience:

Route or box delivery driving experience of customer goods and merchandise.

At least five years of experience driving and possessing a valid driver's license.

Previous track record of meeting/exceeding metrics measuring performance, safety, attendance, quality, and customer service. Experience in the use of pallet jacks, hand trucks and forklift preferred.

Special Certifications:

Valid driver’s license in the state the Delivery Driver position is offered.

Satisfactory driving record reflected during a rolling 36-month average.

Ability to obtain a DOT Medical Certification

Technical Competencies & Information Systems:

Experience using POD or tablet device in the scanning of customer products.

Familiarity with scanner and GIS devices preferred.

Skills & Abilities:

Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing, using the English language (English competency), Bilingual a plus

Basic product knowledge

Knowledge of operation of power/mobile equipment

Ability to understand addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Geographical knowledge of the delivery service area once trained

Personal Attributes:

Minimum of 21 years old

Physical stamina needed to transport, carry and load cartons of paper, water, furniture and mixture of other loads up to 100 pounds with use of appropriate equipment as needed.

Ability to use manual pallet jacks to transport pallets of products up to 2,500 pounds.

Ability to work in all types of weather due to various climate changes.

Repetitive lifting of products such as paper. Continuous climbing in and out of vehicle is required, coupled with the ability to stand on feet for long periods, climb stairs and walk various distances.

Stooping, bending, crawling, kneeling, crouching, reaching are other physical requirements the deliver position requires.

Reports to supervisor all unusual incidents or conditions relating to mail delivery, including condition of street letter boxes and centralized delivery equipment. 11. Becomes proficient, when assigned to a route, in the casing of mail on other routes as assigned. 12. Works professionally with other employees in the office. 13. May as a substitute carrier, perform clerical duties and be required to pass examinations on scheme of city primary distribution. 14.
