Generational Care is a nonprofit organization committed to improving the quality of life for individuals through compassionate in-home care and services. Our key programs—Home Care Services, Mid-Columbia Meals on Wheels, and Healthy Ages—provide essential support to seniors, helping them maintain independence and dignity in their homes.
We are currently seeking an Advancement Director to lead our organization’s development, marketing, communications, and community engagement strategies, ensuring strong visibility, sustainable growth, and meaningful donor and community relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Vision
Provide strategic direction for all advancement activities to align with organizational goals.
Develop and implement annual and multi-year advancement plans to expand public awareness and financial support.
Lead, mentor, and support the advancement team, including the Marketing Coordinator and Donor Relations & Events Coordinator.
Build collaborative partnerships between advancement, program, and finance teams.
Establish and track KPIs and reporting systems to measure impact and outcomes.
Fundraising & Development
Develop, manage, and expand a comprehensive fundraising program including individual giving, corporate sponsorships, and community partnerships.
Cultivate, solicit, and steward donors, local businesses, and organizations.
Grow major gifts and recurring giving programs, focusing on long-term donor engagement.
Support grant preparation and reporting in collaboration with the Executive Director and internal teams.
Pursue new revenue opportunities to strengthen long-term sustainability.
Supervise the Donor & Special Events Coordinator in stewardship, events, and donor engagement activities.
Marketing & Communications
Direct marketing and public relations efforts to strengthen brand visibility.
Oversee development of marketing materials, media outreach, and storytelling campaigns.
Supervise the Marketing Coordinator in managing the website, social media, and digital communication.
Manage external communications, media relationships, and speaking engagements.
Budget & Financial Management
Develop and manage the Advancement Department budget in collaboration with the Executive Director and Finance team.
Monitor revenue and expense trends to ensure goals are met.
Ensure compliance with ethical fundraising standards and best practices.
Community Engagement & Representation
Serve as a visible ambassador for Generational Care at events and community functions.
Build strong community partnerships with businesses, civic groups, and other nonprofits.
Collaborate with outreach staff on opportunities for increased community involvement.
Supervise the Healthy Ages Community Outreach Manager to support events, outreach, and philanthropic initiatives.
Other Duties
Stay current on trends in philanthropy, communications, and nonprofit advancement.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, or related field preferred; equivalent professional experience may substitute.
Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in fundraising, marketing, and public relations, including 3+ years in leadership.
Proven success in securing major gifts and building donor relationships.
Strong leadership, team-building, and supervisory skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication with a mission-focused voice.
Strategic thinker with ability to execute actionable plans.
Experience with CRM/donor management systems and digital marketing tools.
High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion.
Acceptable background check and driving record required.
Access to a personal vehicle and proof of insurance may be required.
