The Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA), Airplane Level Engineering Integration (ALEI) organization has an exciting opportunity for a proactive Experienced Structures and Payloads Design Engineer to join the team in Everett, WA.

The ALEI team is looking for a highly motivated individual that will help drive the overall ALEI strategy for the enterprise; lead the team in evaluating new technologies; prototype solutions for cross-bedrock engineering integrations; and identify/prioritize projects for implementation, as related to 2nd Century Enterprise Systems (2CES). (Define and develop future state processes and tools focusing on 3DX and BCA Product Development).

An Experienced Structures and Payloads Design Engineer must have the capacity to lead analysis of engineering/manufacturing design, that apply to industry standard analysis methods and techniques to continuously improve and optimize processes throughout the value stream.

Excellent written and oral communication are essential project management skills as this position requires working in cross functional domains and integrating new tools, processes, and technologies.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead and direct the implementation of program transition plans to improve existing processes and optimize the effective application of new tool technology.
  • Utilizes extensive knowledge of product design and build processes and applies principles of Lean Product Development, Theory of Constraints and Critical Chain Project Management to construct program planning models simulating the multi-functional dependencies of the product development lifecycle.
  • Oversees technical integration analysis to engineering design teams through the use of virtual visualization and simulation tools.
  • Lead the development of new and innovative methodologies to program planning that simulate the multi-functional dependencies of the product development lifecycle for complex, highly integrated products.
  • Works under minimal direction.


This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform work onsite in Everett, WA.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes , lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
  • 9+ years of experience working with aircraft structure and payload design.
  • Able to support regular and emergent domestic or international travel to support our customers. Willing to travel up to 10% of the time.


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Excellent communication and project management skills, along with the ability to make decisions and deliver results.
  • Experience developing and managing requirements for both software supplier and in-house customizations.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, integrating and implementing Engineering processes and tools.
  • Knowledge of computer aided design tools and system such as CATIA, ENOVIA, IVT, 3DX, DCAC, and LWG (Light Weight Graphics).
  • Working knowledge and understanding of programming languages and formats such as C, VBScript, python, JavaScript, Visual Basic, JSON, XML, CSV.
  • Experience programming for CAD applications, CATIA, Enovia or 3DX preferred.
  • Knowledge of Machine Learning capabilities, technologies and development.
  • Advanced knowledge of design concepts and techniques (e.g., concurrent engineering, Design for Manufacture/Assembly [DFM/A]).
  • Understanding of Digital Thread concepts.


Typical Education/Experience:
Education acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

In locations where SPEEA representation applies, this position will be covered by the terms of the collective bargaining agreement. Applicable and appropriate educational/certification credentials from an accredited institution and/or equivalent experience is required.
