Boeing is seeking a high performing Software Engineering Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead our Systems Software teams and help shape the future of the organization. The position will be dedicated to development and certification of airborne software products, whether developed internally or procured through suppliers on a wide range of Boeing Commercial Airplane programs. The individual will have responsibility for project oversight, developing engineers and Engineering Unit Members (EUMs).

The ideal candidate will have a background in airborne software development, specifically with high criticality systems, as well as strong leadership skills.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leading Engineering Unit Members performing Airborne Software compliance activities.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with customers (internal/external), Stakeholders, Peers, Partners, and Direct Reports
  • Cultivating a culture of seeking to understand, courage to speak up, active listening and servant leadership to manage, develop and motivate employees.


This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes , lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. Employer will not sponsor applicants for employment visa status.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills / Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, ABET accredited
  • 5+ years of experience in the aerospace industry or similar high-tech industry
  • Experience in team building, coaching, leading cross-functional teams, motivating and engaging team members


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills / Experience):
  • Experience applying RTCA DO-178 Software Considerations in Airborne Systems and Equipment Certification
  • Experience as a FAA Designated Engineering Representative, Authorized Representative or Engineering Unit Member
  • Experience with systems engineering and integration of complex hardware and software


Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
