Communications Technician - Moses Lake, WA
The East Columbia Basin Irrigation District (ECBID) is seeking a radio, data & telecommunications technician to perform the installation, maintenance and repair tasks on the communications networks supporting the Columbia Basin Irrigation Project. The network includes analog/digital telemetry (SCADA and alarm systems), conventional hi-band mobile radio, VHF, UHF with voice and alarms. The facilities and communications network are jointly owned and operated by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, the East Columbia Irrigation District, the Quincy-Columbia Bain Irrigation District, the South Columbia Basin Irrigations District, and the Grand Coulee Project Hydroelectric Authority. Portions of the telemetry system also interface with other organizations. The Communications Department personnel are employed by the East District but provide maintenance and operations services to all previously listed organizations.
The Communications technician must possess or acquire within the 365-day probationary period an FCC General Radio Telephone Operator’s License. Tower work, mobile radio systems, 2-way radio bench work, and SCADA systems are duties of this position. A degree or other formal training in electronics technology, telecommunications technology or related field is desirable. Extensive experience in electronics or telecommunications technology may be considered as a substitution for formal training.
This position starts at $35.35/hr. plus benefits.
Job location is in Moses Lake, WA. There is extensive daily travel throughout the Columbia Basin Project area. A District owned vehicle is provided for daily business use. A valid Washington State driver’s license is required.
