Jefferson County Public Works is seeking a motivated individual interested in joining our Port Townsend based team as Real Property Specialist I or II (RPS). This position will acquire rights of way for transportation projects; research and respond to inquiries regarding County property, easements, and rights of way; assist Project Managers with right of way issues; order and review title reports; manage contracts with appraisers and surveyors; determine fair market value and prepare administrative offers; negotiate acquisition of real property interests; administer road vacation proceedings; prepare deeds, easements, legal descriptions, tax affidavits, and record documents; process applications and renewals for utility franchises; surplus County property and; other duties related to the County’s ownership and management of property. Guidance and supervision are received from the Engineering Services Manager.
The ideal candidate for this position would have initiative, be willing and able to learn new tasks and assimilate into the Public Works team, but also be capable of working independently. Placement into the I or II band is dependent upon experience and qualifications.
Minimum qualifications:
Real Property Specialist I; Associates degree (AA) in business, business management, public administration, paralegal studies, land surveying or related field and four (4) years related experience; OR, an equivalent combination of education and experience. Pay Range from $30.46/hr. to $36.39/hr. (7 steps) depending on qualifications.
Real Property Specialist II; Associates degree (AA) in business, business management, public administration, paralegal studies, land surveying or related field and eight (8) years related experience; OR, an equivalent combination of education and experience. Pay Range from $33.60/hr. to $40.14/hr. (7 steps) depending on qualifications.
This is a full time, 40 hour per week Teamsters Union position with generous benefit package including: annual COLA and potential Step increase; full medical, with dental and vision; up to 21 days of Personal Time Off (PTO) in the first year of employment; 12 paid holidays; longevity bonus; bereavement leave; and retirement via Washington State DRS.
