For Immediate Hire: Transfer Station Crew Supervisor and Job Coach with Cascade Community Connections in Port Townsend, WA.

Cascade Community Connections partners with the Jefferson County Public Works Solid Waste Program to guide individuals to build self-empowerment and professional skills in an outdoor setting. This open position, Transfer Station Crew Supervisor and Job Coach manages the daily operation of the established Transfer Station Crew Program. The program encompasses working with adults with disabilities that have been determined to safely provide litter pick-up services and light maintenance work at the Jefferson County Transfer Station. As job coach this role provides job coaching support and guides clients in accessible employment in a small group, lighthearted setting. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who loves to teach and seeks to work with others outdoors without the physical demands of full-time maintenance work.

Schedule Part time, 16-20 hours a week position working on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7:30 to 12:30 PM.

Pay Range is $25 to $27 per hour, depending on experience.

Job Description - Duties and Responsibilities

Oversee the implementation of the Transfer Station Crew Program

Coordinate work crew projects throughout the facility complying with all Washington State Labor & Industry worker safety laws and regulations to ensure safety.

Lead 3-6 crew members in developing skills, abilities, and behaviors enabling them to fully realize their vocational aspirations.

Develop individualized employment plans with clients that meet Cascade standards and principles.

Adjust the individualized employment plan according to clients' needs and preferences, keeping thorough daily documentation of each person’s progress.

Guide and support work crew with litter pick-up, environment protection, building and equipment cleaning, grounds maintenance and beautification, using light power tools to perform light maintenance and ‘housekeeping’ to keep the site clean.

Assess clients' vocational functioning on an ongoing basis and provide onsite job coaching including clients maintaining positive work-related habits.

Collaborate with County employees to identify opportunities to broaden the role or enhance skills.

Provide support and frequent communication with County employees.

Comply with County site requirements and maintain excellent attendance, rain, or shine.

Responsible for acquiring all tools and safety equipment necessary to perform each litter crew task safely.

Prioritize solutions-based thinking through timely and proactive communication.

Use conflict resolution skills to provide timely interventions when needed.

Responsible for maintaining and submitting all work-related reporting forms in a timely and accurate manner.

Attend and contribute to internal weekly meetings, complete required staff training, and attend community meetings/events relevant to clients and their progress.

Participate in ongoing staff development and maintain cooperative working relationships with all agency staff, and community partners.

Skills and Abilities

● Effective communicator (both orally and in writing) and relationship builder, with the ability to connect, guide and collaborate with others.

● Demonstrate empathy and compassion and effective interpersonal skills led by compassion and respect.

● Desire and ability to work with and utilize good supervisory abilities to effectively oversee others with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

● Knowledge of general maintenance and landscaping skills including safety and legal requirements.

● Utilizes good organizational skills and is able to work independently.

● Proven success being punctual, reliable, and responsible.

● Self-motivated and self-directed with a high level of initiative.

● Demonstrated ability to independently manage projects and schedules with accuracy and efficiency.

● Knowledge of or interest in cultural diversity, inclusion, developmental disabilities, facilitation and/or personal development.

● Proficient in Microsoft Word with working knowledge of Google programs

● Ability to maintain confidentiality.

● Must be able to walk, stand and/or occasionally operate tools up to five hours per day; occasionally lift up to 25 pounds and perform various physical tasks to assist clients in performing their job functions. Cascade works with employees to develop reasonable accommodations as needed.

Experience and Qualifications

● Ideally, 1-2 years of experience managing maintenance, landscaping, or outdoor work.

● At least a year in social work or supporting those with developmental disabilities is preferred, not required.

● Experience developing mentoring relationships while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.

● Experience building relationships with individuals with diverse backgrounds or abilities.

● Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
