Electrical Engineer
Metriguard Technologies Inc., a leading developer of electronic and mechanical equipment for testing wood products, has an immediate opening for a full-time Electrical Engineer. General Information
Metriguard designs and manufactures electronic and mechanical equipment for testing and grading wood products including dimension lumber and veneer for structural wood products. This equipment is used worldwide by sawmills, wood products companies and research facilities. Wood product manufacturers can maximize profit by using Metriguard equipment to measure physical properties of lumber and then grade or sort that lumber so it goes to the best end use.
Metriguard equipment measures modulus of elasticity, bending strength, compression strength, shear strength, tensile strength, stress wave propagation time, density, moisture content, defect detection, wood fiber angle and/or amount of fiber alignment. Metriguard innovations have enhanced traditional forest products testing equipment, and new equipment introduced by our company has become the industry standard. Metriguard incorporated in 1973.

Location
Metriguard employs about 25 people at our modern office and manufacturing facility in Pullman, Washington. Pullman is a city of 33,000 people located in the beautiful rolling wheat fields of eastern Washington about 70 miles south of Spokane, Washington. The city of Pullman is home to Washington State University and is 7 miles way from Moscow, Idaho and the University of Idaho.
Position Description:
This is a full-time position. Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; other hours as required. There may be additional hours during travel to various customer locations for machinery installation and service. Compensation is dependent on qualifications and experience, and, after a provisional period, includes vacation and medical benefits.
Duties:
Printed circuit board and other proprietary analog/digital circuit design.
Specification and configuration of standard and custom industrial sensors and control components.
Electronics system design incorporating proprietary electronics, sensors, control components, power systems, and software into electronics packages for industrial equipment.
System documentation for manufacturing, testing, operation and maintenance.
Installation and testing of new hardware and software.
Occasional travel to customer locations for machinery testing and service.
Other tasks as needed in support and development of Metriguard products.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent demonstrated experience.
Training in and/or experience with electronic hardware, software and industrial embedded systems design and testing.
Training in and/or experience with programming embedded C/C and related development systems.
Training in and/or experience with computer interface and PLC configuration.
Training in and/or experience with FPGA programming.
Proficiency with PC applications, including spreadsheet and word processing programs.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and to complete all assignments with minimal supervision.
Ability to work closely with others in a cooperative environment.
Ability to travel domestically and globally (U.S. passport required).
Training in and/or experience with any of the positions listed duties.
