POSITION TITLE: Part-Time Food Services Custodian
Palouse Prairie Charter School is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to serve as a part-time Food Service and custodial position for the 2024-2025 school year.
JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the daily school lunch nutrition program and performs custodial maintenance duties including general cleaning, garbage disposal, recycling pickup and cleaning and restocking restrooms. Assists in maintaining the school in a clean and orderly condition.
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct lunch and breakfast pick-up service on a daily basis.
Set up the serving line.
Serve lunch to students, faculty, and other personnel in accordance with safe food handling procedures and following meal patterns and portion control methods.
Complete required training and maintain required food service records.
Wash dishes and clean the serving area daily.
Conduct light maintenance duties including but not limited to changing light bulbs, weekly maintenance on the sprinkler system, checking fire extinguishers.
Restock paper and soap supplies in classrooms and bathrooms.
May perform routine maintenance to custodial equipment and supplies.
Empty trash receptacles and bag trash for proper disposal.
Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
Order facilities supplies in a timely manner, coordinating with office staff.
Work collaboratively with the lunch management team.
Communicate with the Business Manager and/or Director to coordinate a timely response to emerging issues/concerns.
Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required)
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred. Knowledge of safe work practices. Skill in the use of equipment used in custodial work. Ability to understand and follow safety procedures. Ability to understand and follow verbal instructions. Ability to work independently with close attention to detail. Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies. Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to understand written and verbal communications. Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work activities.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position involves bending, stooping, lifting and carrying items weighing up to approximately 30-50 pounds, and standing and walking continuously throughout the shift. Exposure to cleaning agents, potential electrical hazards, and various types of cleaning equipment. Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. Physical work is the primary part of the job. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions. Reliable transportation in order to pick up school meals from local vendor and a vehicle to accommodate two large coolers and various other food supplies.
COMPENSATION: $14.80-$16.36 depending on experience
