DABCO Property Management in Pullman, Washington, is looking for an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our team of maintenance professionals in a growing multi-family portfolio (conventional apartments). The current portfolio consists of 12 properties in Pullman, primarily on College Hill, that encompass over 1,900 apartment units. We will be adding new properties within Pullman in the near future.

Our Maintenance Technicians are responsible for all aspects of interior and exterior pre-scheduled and preventive maintenance and repairs, and unscheduled maintenance and repairs; and must be able to carry out these duties without significant physical restriction. Physical requirements include ability to climb/descend stairs, properly/safely lift 50 pounds, properly work from a ladder or lift, and work from kneeling and crouched positions for short durations of time. Responsibilities include:

Identifying and remediating worn, broken or otherwise damaged hardware, woodwork, drywall, plumbing, appliances, fixtures

Identifying and remediating sources of water leakage or clogs

Identifying sources of electrical outages or malfunctions and remediating within the scope of maintenance technician's expertise

Improving and enriching the appearance of the apartment buildings, inside and out

Identifying and discerning when a problem requires assistance of a professional vendor

Working within a team of maintenance technicians, community managers and outside vendors (painters, flooring installers, electricians, plumbers, etc.) to continuously improve and maintain the integrity, appearance and functioning of the physical properties

Willing to learn new techniques and apply only DABCO-approved methods of repair

Our Maintenance Technicians also provide support, motivation, and leadership to temporary maintenance employees hired to help with apartment vacancy-to-occupancy turnovers. Responsibilities include:

Teaching and supervising the work of at least one temporary maintenance employee

Planning daily work activities for the temporary employee

Monitoring the work being done by the temporary employee

Ensuring all safety practices are adhered to by the temporary employee

Our Maintenance Technicians also have significant opportunity to interact with our customers; therefore, a vibrant, respectful and professional demeanor is required at all times, especially when:

Addressing customers and colleagues, at all times

Educating customers about the operation and troubleshooting of hardware, appliances and fixtures provided with their apartment

Entering and working within customers' apartments

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Current valid Driver's license and a clean driving record

Must be able to pass a criminal background check

Previous experience with building maintenance and/or construction

Skills and Experience:

Training in basic carpentry, appliance repair, hardware installation, drywall repair, plumbing repair

Competent in all aspects of residential maintenance described here

Good written and verbal communication skills

Hours:

Eight (8) full hours daily: 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday through Friday; with exception of paid holidays

Weekend on-call shift every 4-6 weeks

Salary and Benefits:

Salary starts at $18.00 per hour DOE, plus benefits

Benefits include: employee medical and dental insurance, 10 paid holidays, and monthly accrual of additional paid leave after 90 days of experience.
