Job DescriptionWe are looking for a creative, skilled, and motivated Research Engineer to join our team in advancing the state-of-the-art of computer vision and multi-modal sensing with wearables, including action and gesture recognition, object detection and tracking. You will work with research scientists, software engineers and hardware engineers to build and optimize wearable sensing systems in a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment. The ideal candidate is a hands-on CV/ML engineer with deep CV domain expertise, attention to detail, and a track record in building user-facing, real-time, interactive applications.Responsibilities  Train CV/ML models for wearable AI experiences, including gesture recognition, object detection, scene understanding  Measure and report performance of our CV/ML models under real-world conditions  Improve our CV/ML models through failure analyses and hyper-parameter optimization  Collaborate across an interdisciplinary team of researchers and engineers to build an end-to-end wearable CV system (sensor hardware, data collections, training, evaluation, real-time inference)We are a company committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day. Solve complex, open-ended problems with an emphasis on speed of execution and efficiency. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor\'s degree in mechanical engineering, or other engineering discipline PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Experience with CAD software design package (e.g. NX, CATIA, or ProE) and PLM/PDM software (e.g. Teamcenter). Experience with custom machine design; electromechanical systems, motors, actuators, linear rails, bearings, lifting/rigging, etc. Process integration and electromechanical/mechatronic systems experience. Experience with manufacturing process development, facility/line layouts and common inspection methods. Experience with production tooling or product design in either prototype or high-volume environments. Experience performing structural analysis in FEMAP, NASTRAN, ANSYS or NX Advance Simulation. Experience designing mechanisms, welded structures and mass efficient structures. Strong understanding and application of drafting standards and GD&T (ASME Y14.5) in creating drawings. Familiarity with mechanical engineering concepts, ability to read drawings and fluid system schematics. Ability to understand and implement solutions with an \'end user\' focus. Ability to adapt (incl. roles/responsibilities) while in a fast-paced, challenging work environment. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Travel to other SpaceX locations as necessary.
