Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments – 2022–2023 School YearWe are seeking an Educator of the Visually Impaired who can motivate students and inspire the confidence needed for everyday skills and tasks.Full-time, 1.0 positionin Renton, WA. Excellent communication skills are also vital, as you will interact with students, parents, and educators daily. As a CareerStaff Unlimited Special Education Teacher, you will provide direct and appropriate individualized instruction based on Individualized Educations Plans (IEPs) and objectives (including teaching Braille), while developing social skills for each child at the appropriate teaching level.Hourly: $50

Weekly: $1,850

Position Details:2022-2023 School Year. Candidate must have Washington State License and Certification, and endorsements must be applicable to the role. Apply today!The TVI serves as an alternative media technician for students with vision impairments 3-21 years of age in order to provide accessible materials to students with vision impairments. This can range from braille to large print to electronic versions of school materials. The alternative media technician works under the direction of a teacher of students with vision impairments (tsvi).Major Responsibilities and Duties:Transcribe materials including books, workbooks, testing material, and classroom work for students with visual impairments, including tactile maps and graphs into the requested format.

Maintain accurate records of all transcriptions.

Maintain properly labeled electronic files on all materials to be maintained for future use.

Manage time to ensure that materials are available when needed by students.

Make necessary adaptations of materials for students with visual impairments in conjunction with the TSVI.

Remain current in computer technology as it relates to braille production and interfacing with the student’s braille-related assistive technology.

Order and maintain an inventory of supplies needed for the performance of job duties.

Maintain a resource file for locating alternative sources of braille, large print, or electronic materials

Knowledge of correct English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor’s Degree in Education and ESA with TVI endorsement

Valid WA State Teacher’s Certificate and fingerprints required

School based experience

2 completed supervisory references
