Electrician Journeyman - Power System

OverviewThe Facilities & Infrastructure Operations Division is responsible for plant engineering, plant energy and utility operations, and facility operations for the South campus and leased facilities, North Campus and Infrastructure Operations, the Physical Science facility, and the 300 Area. In addition, the Division oversees campus infrastructure such as fabrication and craft services, duplicating and mail services, relocations, receiving, distributed services, and maintains operations of roads, grounds, and utilities for the campus.

Bargaining Unit: Weekly Pay: $2,117.58

This is a bargaining unit position and will be under the Battelle/HAMTC Collective Bargaining Agreement. As a condition of employment, unless otherwise exempted, the staff member will be required to join the appropriate union affiliated with the Hanford Metal Trades Council (HAMTC) after 30 days of continuous service and pay union dues or pay agency fees to such union in lieu of joining.

The preferred candidate will be required to work onsite.

ResponsibilitiesPerform all types of electrical work, such as layout of construction wiring, installation, and maintenance and repair of complicated electrical equipment, including switchgear, generating, substation, distribution, control equipment, processor-based equipment, computer hardware, etc. Take electrical clearances and perform switching operations on high voltage electrical circuits. Perform wiring and expert trouble shooting on complicated equipment utilizing a wide variety of testing devices requiring expert skill and knowledge to use and interpret. Repair and maintain portable radiation survey instruments, meters, potentiometers, bridges, etc. Fabrication and assembly of tubes, thermocouples, and/or rewind motors and generators. Install, calibrate and maintain highly complex instruments, control systems and related equipment used in the Laboratory to generate, accumulate, and record scientific data from experimental operations and processes. Assemble instrument components into complex workable systems as designed to accomplish stated results. Work from sketches, prints, or oral instructions. May direct the work of others and perform any related work and any assigned work of lesser skill.

Able to safely and effectively utilize all tools, materials, and equipment common to the trade.

Ability to bend and install various sizes and types of conduits & wire pulls (EMT, PVC, Rigid)

Roto hammering in concrete & erecting wire raceways

Work on and troubleshoot various voltages related system: 120/277/480VAC

Performing Preventative Maintenance on electrical breakers, motors, etc

Understanding or PLCs and control cabinet wiring and troubleshooting.

Must have the ability to work from written or verbal instructions, sketches, and prints.

Must have good judgment and attitude providing service to customers and staff.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:

High school graduate or equivalent required

Current Washington State Journeyman Electrician License in good standing (This must be reflected in the resume submitted).Preference will be given to 01 license, but other levels will be considered

Minimum of 2 years of experience at the journeyman level

Must have a valid state-issued driver's license

Ability to qualify as a full journeyman with the appropriate union affiliated with HAMTC

Preferred Qualifications:

Facility and Equipment Maintenance experience

Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE clearance

Ability to utilize computers proficiently and programs such as the full suite of Microsoft Applications.

Prefer skills in utilizing electronic work request systems/tracking for tablets or Smartphones.

Hazardous Working Conditions/Environment

Position may be subjected to working around radiation, chemicals, asbestos, lasers, carcinogens, and other material in a laboratory environment.

Position could be required to work in outdoor environments on a year-round basis.
