Lab Specialist III - Procedure Writer

The Lab Specialist job family is responsible for all activities relating to operation and maintenance of the analytical radiological laboratory equipment system (ARL) including development, implementation, and interaction with WTP requirement areas. This specialist will be specifically scoped to support technical procedure writing. Under direction of the Analytical Manager or Supervisor, may develop and perform administrative or technical assignments of various complexities within approved procedures, schedules, and budgets. May coordinate activities with employees in other disciplines and other functional work groups participating on an assigned project. May assist in the training and evaluation of assigned scientific personnel.This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control, and supervision of WTCCMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS

Work with Lab Method SME to develop and revise lab technical procedures

Manage document revision process for lab documents

Perform all work safely and with the utmost concern for the safety of self and other employees

Perform all work in compliance with environmental permits and regulations

Keeps the supervisor advised as to status of assignment(s) with respect to schedule, budget, delays and adverse conditions

Perform as subject matter expert on one or more technical, program, or requirement area

Maintain expert knowledge and technical expertise in assigned area as it applies to Analytical Lab activities and implementing those standards into assigned area

Assists with training technical and scientific personnel

Provides technical assistance and guidance to technical and scientific personnel

Assures quality, quantity, and completeness of the work required

Plans and schedules activities associated with assigned projects

Maintain timeliness and accuracy of oral and written technical reports regarding assigned activities and tasks

Maintains proper document files and records

Builds productive relationships within the Lab and interfacing functional work groups

Support the Waste Treatment Plant Nuclear Safety Quality Culture by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work to protect self, others, and the environment

Education: High School Diploma or GED. Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering or science or equivalent education desired. Degree in engineering or science may be substituted with two years of experience.Experience: 6+ years of experience through a combination of education and experience in chemistry, laboratory operations, technical writing, and training and procedure development.Preferred Experience: Experience writing lab procedures, WTP technical procedure writer qualificationPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS(EFNM-LAB) Exposed Field Non-Manual Laboratory. Performs desk work, including writing, computer workstation processes and telephone operations. Oversees field activities through inspections, testing and equipment operations, which requires walking, standing, bending, and turning along with wearing personal protective equipment and carrying measuring tools. Occasional loading, transport, and unloading of tools and/or supplies, equipment and compresses gas cylinders specific to activity. Prepares laboratory standards and analytical equipment within approved technical procedures or activity level work control document boundaries. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment within the scope of approved procedures or activity level documents.COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:HIRING SALARY RANGE: $99,193.03 - $154,255.09 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)This position includes a competitive benefits package.
