The Plant Engineering organization provides engineering oversight, program support, and qualified staff to support the Hanford Tank Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant (WTP) mission. Near term support is provided by the Waste Treatment Completion Company (WTCC). The mission includes safely storing, treating, and immobilizing the highly hazardous radiological wastes created during prior periods of nuclear processing at the Hanford Reservation. The Plant Engineering organization and programs provide the framework for executing engineering work. Plant Engineering personnel are responsible for the technical adequacy of Plant Engineering products and decisions.The Programs Group is a dedicated group within Plant Engineer to support the continued success of the Waste Treatment Project. Ensuring that the Plant Engineering organization has the needed capabilities and competence to achieve all required activities with the highest degree of quality and excellence by the development and maintenance of procedures and tools; training of Plant Engineers; and assessing the products of the Plant Engineering organization.This position is primarily responsible for execution of assessments and providing oversight of the other Plant Engineering Program functions. Although responsibilities include performing other Plant Engineering Program functions.This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control and supervision of WTCC.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS
Delivery of timely performance-based and risk-informed oversight of project activities; in addition to verifying compliance with requirements, oversight activities identify performance improvement recommendations and gaps to best practices.
Implement Plant Engineering program elements as assigned
Develop, review, concur with and/or assess engineering technical documents
Develop, review, concur with and/or assess management control procedures, technical procedures, or guides
Resolve condition report issues or other similar discrepancies as assigned
Implement appropriate corrective actions, up to and including cessation of work, when work is not in compliance with requirements.
Ensure the health and safety of self and staff by implementing the principles of Integrated Safety Management System
Ensure that personal conduct of work is consistent with nuclear safety and quality culture expectations.
Perform periodic assessments of the plant engineering program.
Meet training requirements and maintain qualifications to perform work
Support control of field work in assigned areas, including integration of project activities, repairs, and equipment operations activities
Coordinate the development and assignment of training materials within the Plant Engineering organization.
Support operations, maintenance, and commissioning of the WTP Facilities
Remain apprised of operational status and ongoing modification activities
Ensures timely and accurate oral and written technical reports on assigned activities
Complete required training and maintain qualifications associated with assignments
Support the Waste Treatment Plant Nuclear Safety Quality Culture by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work to protect self, others, and the environment
Contribute to other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent education) in an appropriate engineering discipline or related science from a four-year accredited college or university
Experience:
Minimum of five years of professional experience
Candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft application suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, Visio, PowerPoint, etc.)
Preferred Experience:
Ability to work under pressure and with minimal supervision.
Knowledge of advanced techniques for audit, assessment, event investigation, cause analysis, human performance, and corrective action
Demonstrated knowledge of design, procurement, construction, start-up, commissioning, and operation of a government or commercial nuclear facility
Experience in processing facilities, DOE facilities, or DOD facilities
Experience with national consensus codes and standards
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS(EFNM) Exposed Field Non-Manual- Performs desk work, including writing, computer workstation processes, and telephone operation. Arranges for and/or performs presentations, oral reports, planning meetings, and other formal and informal contacts, requiring long periods of sitting. Oversees field activities through inspections, testing and equipment operations, which requires walking, standing, bending, and turning along with wearing of personal protective equipment.
