The Plant Engineering organization provides engineering oversight, program support, and qualified staff to support the Hanford Tank Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant (WTP) mission. Near term support is provided by the Waste Treatment Completion Company (WTCC). The mission includes safely storing, treating, and immobilizing the highly hazardous radiological wastes created during prior periods of nuclear processing at the Hanford Reservation. The Plant Engineering organization and programs provide the framework for executing engineering work. Plant Engineering personnel are responsible for the technical adequacy of Plant Engineering products and decisions. This position is within the Responsible Engineering – Subcontract Technical Representative (STR) group and is responsible for the subcontracts supporting the plant.In some cases subcontracted work is developing entirely new programs being used at WTCC which requires more extensive direction and coordination to comply with WTCC concept of operations requirements. These types of work specifically entail generation of work scopes to be awarded and performed by Subcontractors and ensure planning and execution aligns with both Engineering and Maintenance organizational requirements. Under direction of the Plant Engineering Manager, the Plant Engineering STR Supervisor is responsible for all subcontracted activities within the plant, ensuring that Plant Engineering organizational priorities are implemented and pursued, and ensuring that interactions with other Plant Engineering staff, Operations, Maintenance, WTP Project groups, subcontractors, and equipment vendors are adequate to perform assigned job functions.This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control, and supervision of WTCCMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS

Supervise and lead a diverse group of Plant Engineers to achieve an objective

Establish organizational goals and objectives within the assigned area of responsibility

Develop organizational values and vision related to quality and safety

Encourage opportunities for positive and productive relationships with peers both within and external to Plant Engineering

Mentoring team members for improved performance

Assemble timely and accurate oral and written technical reports on assigned activities

Ensure the health and safety of self and staff by implementing the principles of ISMS

Assist assigned engineers in determining operability and correcting out-of-specification conditions

Support operations, maintenance, and commissioning of the WTP Facilities

Remain apprised of operational status and ongoing modification activities

Provide technical review of facility/system related procedures and work instructions

Assist with resolution of design issues necessary to support plant operations and/or maintenance

Review Project design and other documents for operations, maintenance, and testing impacts and providing alternative solutions

Interface with subcontractors, vendors, and project support groups

Complete required training and maintain qualifications associated with assignments

Support the Waste Treatment Plant Nuclear Safety Quality Culture by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work to protect self, others, and the environment

Supervise a group of Plant Engineers on multiple tasks

Assist groups in organizational goals and objectives within the assigned area of responsibility

Supervise daily engineering activities with other Plant Engineering disciplines, maintenance, and operations

Coordinate and direct the work of engineers or other staff assigned to the group

Ensure engineers assigned to the group obtain and maintain qualifications necessary to perform their tasks

Ensure engineers assigned to the group have sufficient resources to complete assignments

Monitor group and individual engineer performance and ensure appropriate communication to management is provided

Conduct employee performance and feedback reviews, goal setting, and other activities related to employee growth and development

Continually upgrade technical knowledge, training, capabilities, and evaluation of assigned personnel.

Provide technical direction, training, and evaluation of assigned personnel

Establish and manage group schedules and budgets ensuring accurate status and timely communications are provided to management

REQUIREMENTS/SPECIFICATIONSEducation:

Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent education) in an appropriate engineering discipline or related science from a four-year accredited college or university

Experience:

Minimum of twelve (12) years of professional experience with at least three (3) years of experience directing the work of others as either a lead or supervisor

Candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills

Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft application suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, Visio, PowerPoint, etc.)

Preferred Experience:

Experience in processing facilities, DOE facilities, or DOD facilities preferred.

Experience with the implementation of Integrated Safety Management (ISM) work control process.

Experience developing maintenance work instructions and supporting documentation

Experience with project management and the capability to manage multiple assignments

Planning and scheduling of engineering tasks as well as delegation of assignments

Project change control and risk management process

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS(EFNM) Exposed Field Non-Manual- Performs desk work, including writing, computer workstation processes, and telephone operation. Arranges for and/or performs presentations, oral reports, planning meetings, and other formal and informal contacts, requiring long periods of sitting. Oversees field activities through inspections, testing and equipment operations, which requires walking, standing, bending, and turning along with wearing of personal protective equipment. Occasional loading, transport, and unloading of tools and/or supplies specific to an activity.This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.Must be able to work in the United States without SponsorshipMust be able to obtain a Department of Energy (DOE) badge for access to the Hanford site .COMPENSATION & BENEFITSHIRING SALARY RANGE: $128,402.60 - $206,078.53 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)This position includes a competitive benefits package.
