What You Will DoThe Associate Laboratory Directorate, Plutonium Infrastructure (ALDPI), at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) manages the execution of major capital projects related to infrastructure required to meet plutonium pit production deliverables. This is an opportunity for an exceptional project professional that will be part of a subproject team to ensure execution of the new Plutonium Infrastructure Directorate capital construction project portfolio. The Directorate is at the center of execution of capital projects in and around the Los Alamos National Laboratory's plutonium pit production facilities for U.S. nuclear weapons and is focused on sustaining the current stockpile; providing life extensions of the stockpile; and helping to ensure the safety, security, and effectiveness of the U.S. nuclear deterrent. Reporting to a Project-Program Director or Manager of Projects under the Senior Director for Line-Item Projects (LI-PROJ) this position is critically important to the safe and efficient implementation of programmatic elements within LI-PROJ. Assist in the management of risk management programs, ensuring alignment with ALDPI goals and objectives.

Operate systems and supporting tools associated with for risk characterization and management.

Assist in the development and implementation of program plans, schedules, and budgets in support of LI-PROJ Reporting and Planning.

Coordinate with LI-PROJ Subdivision teams to ensure program success.

Manage risk identification, tracking, and mitigation across directorate and integration with institutional risks.

Works with the LI-PROJ Subdivision managers staff to track risk management issues and activities across directorate and activities assigned at the LI-PROJ level.

Champion continuous improvement initiatives associated with risk management to enhance program compliance, performance, and quality.

Provide regular updates to management on program status, risks, and opportunities.

Successfully organize and monitor a variety of team efforts to completion, often with competing deadlines.

Participate in special assignments and administrative studies as assigned.

What You NeedMinimum Job Requirements:Knowledge, Skills, and Expertise:

Advanced knowledge conceiving, developing, directing, and monitoring the implementation of processes, tools, and any associated training required. Focus areas may include risk management; risk characterization, metrics development, monitoring, and trending; and contract requirements management.

Experience in managing contracts, specifically Request for Proposal development, evaluation, negotiations, and award.

Impact, Decision Making, and Problem Solving:

Demonstrated success in facilitating collaboration and coordination to analyze and solve complex institutional performance challenges.

Demonstrated ability to ensure all results, processes, and final products meet quality specifications and are completed according to established requirements including cost, scope, and schedule.

Leadership, Communication, and Interpersonal Skills:

Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.

Ability to prepare clear, concise, and informative presentations, reports, correspondence, and other written materials.

Program Management

Advanced knowledge of and demonstrated consultative experience in all aspects of program development and/or program management associated with business operations and contract administration, including defining program work scope, schedules, budgets, priorities, and performance milestones.

Strong understanding and application of partnership development and portfolio management principles, concepts, and practices.

Advanced knowledge conceiving, developing, directing, and monitoring the implementation of processes, tools, and any associated training required.

Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and 12 years of directly related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level, post graduate coursework may be desirable.Desired Qualifications:

Experience working with NNSA/DOE oversight, policies and expectations and integrating overarching policies or requirements into local policy/procedures.

Knowledge of LANL organizational structure, policies, and procedures.

Experience developing and nurturing external customer relationships, particularly with DOE/NNSA stakeholders and Program Sponsors.

Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM.
