Job SummaryThe Senior Commissioning Test Engineer (CTE) II is an integral member of the Commissioning organization, which is completing the final startup and commissioning of the Hanford Waste Treatment Plant (WTP). The CTE is responsible for developing, conducting, and documenting tests and communicating the associated test results. Under minimal supervision, the CTE utilizes training and experience to solve complex process and equipment issues to achieve success, and will interact with other Test Engineers, Operations, Maintenance, WTP Project groups, subcontractors, and equipment vendors as required to perform job assignments. This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control, and supervision of WTCC MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS Develops procedures to implement conduct of testing and programmatic requirements
Identifies system and facility test requirements from Engineering documents, codes and standards and inputs them into test requirements management work processes
Reviews designs for testability and inspectability
Reviews industry lessons-learned for applicability to assigned responsibilities
Authors test indexes, plans and procedures based on test requirements and acceptance criteria
Alone, or under the direction of a test director, directs Plant Operations personnel in the performance of
Documents results and develops objective evidence
Identifies technical issues related to testing/operations and coordinates with various project organizations to
Keeps assigned supervisor/manager aware of all issues identified
Completes required training and maintains proficiency as needed to obtain and maintain project certification as a test engineer
Reflects nuclear safety and quality priorities in the performance of work
Support the Waste Treatment Plant Nuclear Safety Quality Culture by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work in order to protect self, others, and the environment
Maintain awareness of all hazards associated with assigned work
Monitor adequacy of testing performed by the Startup organization in support of preparations for Commissioning Phase Testing

Performs desk work, including writing, computer workstation processes, and telephone operation. Arranges for and/or performs presentations, oral reports, planning meetings, and other formal and informal contacts, requiring long periods of sitting. Oversees field activities through inspections, testing and equipment operations, which requires walking, standing, bending, and turning along with wearing of personal protective equipment. Occasional loading, transport, and unloading of tools and/or supplies specific to an activity.
Amentum has joined with Bechtel to create an LLC, known as the Waste Treatment Completion Company (WTCC) to construct, start-up and commission the world’s largest radioactive-waste treatment plant for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) in southeastern Washington state. The project will use vitrification technology to process and stabilize 53 million gallons of radioactive and chemical waste currently stored at the Hanford Site which is a byproduct of plutonium-production during World War II and the Cold War era.
The project is the largest undertaking of its kind ever and one of DOE’s most technically challenging cleanup projects equivalent to building two nuclear power plants. Its construction site spans 65 acres and includes facilities for pretreatment, low-activity waste vitrification, and high-level waste vitrification, as well as an analytical laboratory.
Minimum RequirementsEducation/Experience: HS Diploma or GED and 10 years of startup, commissioning, operations or other facility testing experience working in the Naval Nuclear field, Department of Energy’s nuclear industry, commercial nuclear power or other high hazard facilities. Appropriate training and experience commensurate with responsibilities of the position may be considered. OR Associate of Science degree and 8 years of startup, commissioning, operations or other facility testing working in the Naval Nuclear field, Department of Energy’s nuclear industry,commercial nuclear power or other high hazard facilities. Appropriate training and experience commensurate with responsibilities of the position may be considered. OR Bachelor of Science degree and 6 years of startup, commissioning, operations or other testing working in the Naval Nuclear field, Department of Energy nuclear industry, commercial nuclear power or other high hazard facilities. Appropriate training and experience commensurate with responsibilities of the position may be considered. This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and selected candidate must be willing and able to work a rotating shift schedule, 4 days on / 4 days off, 2 weeks days, 2 weeks nights.
