I am an independent 49 year old male C5-6 quadriplegic living in downtown Seattle in the international district one block from the light rail station. I am looking for some reliable people to help me with my morning care and/or evening care.
My schedule has some limited flexibility so exact times for care can be adjusted a bit.
Morning care starts at 6:00 am on the weekdays and usually last an hour, starting earlier is OK, a little later is possible. The morning is just getting me ready for the day and include transferring, meal prep, dressing, grooming, and some shifting of laundry. Occasionally something goes wrong with me or my equipment, like getting sick or wheelchairs breaking. It is rare for something to go wrong. I feel like it is maybe happens twice a year. You would be expected to stay longer in those rare circumstances and that extra time will be paid for.
Evening care has two scenarios. BP night start at 7:00 pm and should finish by 9:30 pm. Tasks included transferring, meal prep, laundry, simple house cleaning, assisting with bowel program, undressing, and grooming. Non BP nights starts at 8:30 pm and normally goes till 9:30 pm. Tasks include transferring, meal prep, laundry, simple house cleaning, undressing, and grooming. Starting and finishing time are flexible, to a degree.
Basically as my caregiver you are my hands to help me have a life that is successful and fulfilling. If you do a good job my life is working well and I am happier as a result.
Pay is negotiable but will be in the neighborhood of 25 an hour. I want to emphasize one point, I pay for you out of my pocket, the money is not from the state or an insurance company, it is the money I make at my job.
No prior experience is necessary. This is a great job for a College Student or anyone looking for a stable part-time position. I willing and able to train any motivated person. Health care, nursing, or therapy interest or experience is desirable but not required. Reliability is critical to me. The position is available immediately.
