I own a general contracting company that performs small - medium remodels and handyman tasks for commercial and residential clients. I am seeking an apprentice who would like to learn the carpentry and building maintenance trades.
Basic construction knowledge (how to read a tape, mark a line, make an accurate cut, paint, caulk, etc.,) is valued but not necessary. I am more than happy to teach. Also, you need to be fit for this work. It will require lifting heavy objects, spending extended time performing repetitive motions, and contorting your body as needed.
A typical day as a Carpenter's Apprentice would be us meeting sometime between 8-10AM in a parking lot that is of equal distance between our residences, or I will retrieve you from your home if you do not drive. You are welcome to drive your own vehicle to appointments. We will go to an AM appointment, take lunch, and go to a PM appointment. You can expect to be off work sometime between 3-5PM. We will work 3 - 5 days a week.
As far as bosses go, I'm very patient and understanding. Having said that, I will not tolerate the following behaviors and consider them to warrant termination of employment:
Drinking, drugging, smoking, or vaping on the job.
Disrespect to clients, or speaking about inappropriate topics while they are in earshot.
Lateness and last-minute callouts.
An unwillingness to learn, grow and change as situations necessitate.
Drama from personal life bubbling up and into employment.
Think you fit the bill? Great! Email me your resume with the following in the cover letter:
Your name and some details about yourself. How would you describe your personal ethics? What do you value in yourself, and in others?
Your hobbies, aspirations in life, and things that bring you joy.
Respond to the terminable offenses in some capacity reassure me that you're relatively sober, respectful, presentable, tactful, humble enough to fail, and willing to learn/grow.
If selected I will contact you to meet in-person.
This position could easily grow into full-time employment as an unsupervised maintenance technician/carpenter. That would come with a commensurate pay increase and benefits ($28-35/hr and medical, dental, vision after 90 days).
Thank you for your time and interest.
