Financial Literacy Specialist

The Financial Literacy Specialist is part of our Adult Education program and is responsible for providing support in developing and implementing of our financial literacy program. Fluency in both English and Spanish is strongly desired, but not required. This will be a full time position at 30 hours per week.

JOB DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

1.Conduct face-to-face and telephone intakes with families and individuals, to assess and identify proper resources, services, and referrals.

2.Maintain organized, thorough, and timely documentation of services provided, which will include daily database entries for participants served.

3.Data entry into EmpowOR in a timely and accurate manner, including financial skills, services, outcomes, and referrals.

4.Assist in creating and refining curriculum and materials for the financial literacy program.

5.May facilitate literacy classes or support volunteers who do.

6.Assist as necessary in recruiting participants and promoting the program within the community.

7.Maintains a positive, service-oriented attitude at all times with the public, participants, volunteers, and coworkers. Interacts with participants in a respectful manner that fosters self-esteem and empowerment.

8.May assist with other adult education programs.

9.Bilingual English/Spanish Specialist: May provide translation services.

10.Participate in agency trainings and meetings as required and events that pertain to the EcSA/FLARE Program, EmpowOR, financial coaching and family centered coaching.

11.Other related duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

Education & Experience

Associates Degree, in Human Services or Early Childhood Education preferred, but not required.

Experience working in human services, financial services, or education preferred.

Or a combination of education and experience providing the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work.

License(s) & Certification(s)

Must have valid driver license and auto liability insurance if personal vehicle is used for work-related travel.

Skills & Abilities

Bilingual (Spanish/English) desired; additional languages helpful.

Attention to detail and data entry skills required.

Excellent organization and planning skills.

Ability to be an effective and positive representation of the agency

Acquired knowledge of local community resources.

Ability to work effectively with a minimum level of supervision.

Ability to facilitate trainings, and conduct presentations to individuals or groups.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications. Experience with EmpowOR and LACES databases preferred.

Must have strong and effective communication skills (oral and written).

Working knowledge of standard office procedures and technologies (phone, computer, printer, photocopier, scanner, fax machine) is needed.

Demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with people from varied cultural, socioeconomic, educational and experiential backgrounds.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Position is for 30 Hours per week

Starting Pay Range between $21.07 - $23.26 per hour (DOE)
