The Position:
A pipe layer is a skilled tradesman that can cut, fit and lay underground piping. Piping may be made of many different types of materials including PVC, concrete, ductile iron, or HDPE. Piping is installed tight so that joints and connections fully seal.
You will be installing water, sewer or stormwater mains, hydrants, service lines, and concrete structures.
Weâre looking for an experienced pipe-layer to fill a full-time position. The pay range offered is doe, our work often pays at prevailing wage /Davis Bacon pay scale.

Requirements:
Candidate to have proven ability to lay pipe at grade and maintain grade throughout the run.
Valid Washington State Driverâs License with reliable means of transportation.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Pass a drug test.
Ability to stand on cement or various surfaces for extended periods of time, up to 10 hours per day outdoors, in all types of Washington weather.
Ability to remain alert during shift, and to hear approaching traffic with the ability to move quickly if need be.
Able to safely lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Able to bend at the waist, stoop, squat and bend at the knees as required on a regular basis.
Applicants must be physically fit and understand position is labor intensive and physically demanding and for long periods of time.
Ability to read and understand blue prints.
Work in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining a clean work area.
Work in confined spaces or deep excavations.
Competent Person Certifications for Excavation and Shoring, Confined Spaces not required, but is a plus.
Certification for AC Water main work -not required, but is a plus.
Flagger card -not required, but is a plus.
First Aid /CPR Certification not required, but is a plus.
Applicant shall be Responsible for:
Align and position pipes to prepare them for welding or sealing. Cut pipes to desired lengths.
Ability to check slopes for conformance to requirements, using lasers or levels.
Connecting pipe pieces and sealing joints, using welding equipment, cement, glue or fittings.
Cover pipes with earth or other materials. Dig trenches to desired or required depths, by hand or using trenching tools.
Grade and level trench bases, using tamping machines and hand tools.
Install and repair pipes, structures and pipe systems.
Layout pipe routes, ability to read blue prints and coordinate layout with supervisors.
Tap and drill holes into pipes to introduce auxiliary lines or devices.
Install and use instruments such as lasers, grade rods and transit levels.
Occasionally operate mechanized equipment such as pickup trucks, rollers, tandem dump trucks, front-end loaders and backhoes.
Occasionally holding traffic paddle, directing vehicular traffic through construction area, turning the sign and using hand signals.
Installing /using shoring.
